Chronicles of Narnia

As a child I use to love reading the Narnia series of books by C.S.Lewis so I was quite intrigued to see what the first big screen "live-ish action" adaption of The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe would be like.
Would it be like those visually spectacular but ultimately boring "Harry Potter" & "Lord Of The Rings" type films?
Reading an interview with the director I was reassured by his comment that he wanted the film to look like the images he had in his head when he read the book as an 8 year old.
And having now seen the film,I think thats why I enjoyed it so much, because its a pretty faithful adaptation of the original story with perhaps just a few minor variations which only a churlish nit-picker would criticise.
The casting was spot-on with Tilda Swinton stealing the show fairly easily with her portrayal of the White Witch.
Beautifully filmed, I was particularly impressed with the look of the Narnia winter scenes.
There has been a lot of (unneccesary) comments elsewhere regarding the religious aspects of the film......what a shame that people can't enjoy this wonderful "fairy tale" which all the family can enjoy,whatever their ages.
