Which Stina album could you manage to do without?
For me,none-except that I'd love to get hold of the tapes for This Is and remix the lot and clear up the mess Mitchell Froom made,get rid of the hateful Midi saxophone on Lori Glory,add some cymbals and sheen to the drum sound,strip out some of the pretentious noise effect on each track,add the missing overdubbed Stina vocal backings (which are on every other album but this one,have you noticed?),add some Stina Dynamite guitar,some string arrangements,the three choirboys from ASCHE,some wackiness from PAS,and add the missing tracks 'Thing about fire' and 'Walking too fast' in properly produced versions thus nudging the album up to a decent playing time.

Well I guess this was a no-brainer for me 'People Are Strange', I just think if this was the first time you heard Stina, you seriously might not want to check out the rest of her stuff, which would of course be a terrible thing..

I completely agree and my vote reflects that too. IMHO, 'People Are Strange' is really a curio, not a fantastic listening experience in any true sense. I do understand her reasons for making it though, the point of it, and I have a sense of what she was going through when she made it (from interviews and stuff). However, I do genuinely like the Leonard Cohen cover and short instrumental, and I also prefer the alternate Japanese album title; 'The Phantom's World'. A much more disturbing concept with that title - which to me is always a bonus!

I really like 'People Are Strange' and in fact it's one of my fave albums. I couldn't live without it for sure !

I see your point with this, re: vocals. They are often very irritating and detract from the songs' potential ('A Walk In The Park' for instance sounds as if it was sung by an 8 year old who just won a lollipop - which I know makes it all the more disturbing - but it is still irritating). However, if you ever catch yourself singing along to any of these songs, mimicking her vocal style - especially Alan Bean - its an humiliating experience!

Well would you adam and eve it, whilst MOAC is low down my list of favs it does contain perhaps my favourite Stina track 'soon after christmas'

That's so funny. I very much do not like another story girl, and love the album moac more than most of them. But i think i base alot on sentimentality.
of course i chose and she... but only because i had to pick 1. There are some awesome songs, but the feel is too light, too unweighted. too mainstream.

People are Strange bashing again, eh? I dunno, it does something for me no other album does. calms me, clears my mind. depresses me. something for every occasion.

MOAC was the first Stina album I ever heard! It still inspired me to check out the rest, and it's still my favorite! I honestly can't pick a favorite track off it, I love them all!

perhaps its just as well that Stina makes albums for herself and not with her fans in mind.

I chose dynamite, allthough i couldn't live without any one of them. But dynamite is the darkest and i play it not very often; it's great for some occasions though, so i love every album being fit for different moods and times...

i dunno. i'd have to say that A Walk in the Park sets it less mainstream than others. That is one weird song, no matter how you look at it.

Plus, the very early 90's mainstream isn't too bad. That's back when the mainstream included ALOT of good stuff.

I agree - I've played this song for people and they always look at me like I've just landed from another planet.

I love MOAC, with the exception of 'Soon After Christmas' which is too sickly-sweet for my taste. The rest is beautiful.

PAS would be the album I'd give up if I had to, I could live without that one.
