Hello everyone,

I tried to inform about the new website for stina and emailed Ian Grenfell of Silentway. He replied that he no longer works for Stina and that he will pass on my request.

Sad to hear that the management by Ian has ended. I believe that he has accomplished quite some important things for Stina, including setting up her own label.

n all honesty, I'm sure she'll do fine managing herself. I've always felt she should go that way.

Hmm.He worked with Stina for a long time...that's a bit of a shock.I think he might have been quite instrumental in keeping her in the public eye,against her natural tendency to stay right out of it...

I agree with you Dave.

I think Ian played a big rol in keeping Stina in the public eye as well as keeping her under contract with major recordcompanies or good distribution companies. He helped Stina sign her contract at Independiente and has helped her setting up A Walk In The Park with the worldwide distributiondeal with V2. TWIS was even released in the USA and Australia. That didn't happen with Dynamite, PAS or TISN.

So I'm not sure what to think of this. If Stina decides to manage herself this might be the end of any official source for Stina news.

There was an official source of Stina news?!?

On a serious note I have sensed a downturn in new information in the past while, but it's not as if we have ever had much fed to us. I wonder if this coincided with the 'disbandment' of CQD...?

Well so far we've had a couple of sources of official information: V?ronique and Ian Grenfell. Since they both no longer work with Stina it seems that we have no contacts to whom we can write requesting information.....

I asked Ian wether he knew who would be taking over Stina's management. I haven't heard from him so far. Although he did say he'd pass on my message.

If I hear any news on this I'll let you know.

I got a reply from Ian. As far as he knows will Stina represent herself with a bit of help from her lawyer and some people over at V2.

@pgss - remember a few months ago? Maybe this answers your question.

I don't find this surprising at all, I suspect it was fairly inevitable that Stina would eventually end up in this situation. Let's see how she goes with the new people.

Yes, I remember. And yes, it answers the question indeed.

We'll see how it goes in the future. Maybe this works out in a good way for Stina now she's forced to search for new business directions.

I forgot to mention that I saw Ian Grenfell being briefly interviewed on tv the other week (alas i've since forgotten in which context).

He came across as being a normal down to earth sort of guy......its a wonder he managed to manage Stina for as long as he did?

I'm not sure that it's a wonder. I do believe that Stina is an interesting person in some sort of way. I mean we're all interested in her. I suppose that in real life she is interesting also.

I believe it was Beth who wrote on the old forum that Stina didn't make a lot of friends in the music industry of the UK. Maybe she's willing to reveal some more of that rumour now this forum isn't official anymore?

Anyway, I don't think that Stina isn't one of the most easiest persons. But hey, I'm not easy too.

I'd have to question actually whether we're all interested in Stina herself - I've never been that interested in her as an individual, to be honest. It's her music I think about and love, the person behind it doesn't come across as particularly appealing from the bits I've read and heard so I'm not curious to find out more. The only non-musical aspect of Stina I've had any interest in is her seriously fantastic taste in boots.

As to the other stuff Paul, it's a personal perspective coming from a friend who's moved in the same musical circles as her, based on stuff he's heard from people who've had dealings with her professionally. Fine to discuss privately, but I'm not sure it would be fair to the artist to post that here on a public forum dedicated to her, and I'm absolutely certain it wouldn't be welcomed by some of her more devoted fans.

I hope she finds new people to work with who will help her as much as possible to get this next record out safely, because at the end of the day she is a wonderful, wonderful writer/musician regardless of anything else, and it would be a real loss to music if she ended up in a situation where she couldn't get her work out.
