With reference to Kuhn's post in the 'Wiki' thread, if the VG newspaper has it right, we should have a brand new Stina album to listen too within the next 10 weeks.

Thats not too long to wait and maybe we'll have a new single even sooner than that.

So,whats the new album going to sound like?

Well, if past albums are anything to go by, its going to sound totally different to all that have gone before.

Judging by Stina's recent projects I'm expecting something more experimental this time round, a less 'song' based album, with perhaps longer (and fewer) tracks with a more 'electronica' feel.

It'll probably be an album of folk songs.

I was thinking today...'what if Stina has made another album of covers?'.
I'm willing to bet that some of the Tarantula songs are on it, plus maybe some of the grooves she laid down behind the talking heads on the Magasin Projekt material.
But I'm also willing to bet that we won't see it in 10 weeks
10 months maybe.

hmmm.......possibly but I think the material was too weak to stand the scrutiny of an album proper. Fine as background music but thats all.

Call me Realist! Look at TWIS,how long that took between inception and release!

And insofar as the Tarantula/Magasin stuff goes,has anyone actually heard the Tarantula songs? I'd agree about the Magasin stuff,but I could still imagine Stina using those backings and putting something a whole lot more interesting on top.

Thats true enough as I think it was a year between the recording sessions and its eventual release.

Hopefully though that now Stina has a more hands on approach and is ( i assume) releasing the new album herself (via V2? ), its going to come out when its supposed to.

I reckon TWIS took a lot longer than a year....!..Stina had done the JeanClaude tracks by approx Sept 2002 when the documentary was aired,and was talking about 'funky,groovy' songs by early 2003.The CQD competition-which hinged around where the album had been mixed (Realworld) was launched in Feb '03 and suggested that she'd been mixing it 2 or 3 months earlier.When did TWIS appear? Sept '04?
Somewhere in 2003 Stina mentioned that she was already working on ANOTHER album,ie post-TWIS!!

You are right,it did take longer than a year for The World Is Saved to appear.
My fault,I didn't read your post correctly and thought you were refering to the 'This Is' album.

TWIS does look abit like TISN

I seem to recall that Stina was already working on the 'This Is' follow up as early as May 2002. If correct and these were the ( start of the ) 'Jean Claude' / 'The World Is Saved' sessions then there must have been a good two and a half year gap between the start and release of the project.

I hope it's an album of pirate sea shanties with Lordi.

I'd like her to do an album of duets. I'd especially appreciate one with Tori where the Amos flights of linguistic fancy would be answered with Stina's one-liners.


Didn't we have a parody thread in one of the old boards where Stina did duets with Bjork, Polly Harvey and various others? Somebody should dig that up, it was hilarious.

Do you know I think I am ready for anything she hits us with.

My dream would be that her new album is the music of plaid and boards of canada with her songs and vocals. Oh that would be divine, I love The Photographer's Wife EP and an album of that vibe would make me wet myself (in the good way hohohohoho! oh i am awful, but i like me)

I hope it sounds electronic in a Bj?rkish sort of way
