Forum locked as of 4 o'clock this afternoon.
Farewell CQD,where many of us met.I'm glad it's still there for a while so we can lay flowers on the grave, as it were. [disguise]
I'm rather stunned and moved and not quite sure what I feel.Emotional anyway...
After a period of mourning i shall resume my happy demeanour and look forward.

I still think shutting down CQD was a stupid descision. [b)]

It really was weird guys, i think that there is still something we're missing out, something we can't guess or imagine...
I mean, it's almost like a crime for an artist shutting down the official site about 3 months after the release of a new album! So, i really don't think that it was only V's decision to do so and Stina would have sat with her arms crossed and do nothing to prevent it! I mean it's 100% against Stina's advantages! [cry]

It all seemed to go pear shaped last October when,as soon as the album was released,the "news" items came to a sudden halt.

There was no follow up report of Stina's "book recital" in Berlin and after i suggested to Veronique ( a suggestion that V readily agreed to) that she should keep note of all Stina's press interviews so that we'd know in advance which publications to keep an eye out for,........nothing happened at all.

And whatever went down then,the CQD staff outting to the antarctica didn't help much as the decision to pull the CQD plug was quickly made on their return it seems.

But the site is still hanging on in there.......just.

Leaving in October and then return just to close the forum down giving two weeks notice is a bit rude. [censor]

Take it or leave it, but killing of CQD was indeed not exactly wise.

i agree. i must say, the way they finished it off was extremely daft. it's not like i think s, v & co are somehow obligated to run a message board for the fans, for years, even though it's a really nice gesture. thing is, they could have just told us, we quit! without pushing the button immediately. and then everybody could have saved the conversations which meant a lot to them, or maybe backed up the whole thing, before shutting it down. but someone actively made a choice to shut it down immediately, instead of doing nothing. i'm not saying that everybody has got to be nice all the time, but i'm one of those who really like when people don't act like assholes on purpose, just for the fuck of it.
ok, so no one really knows what this is about, and whose decision it was. but even if it was because of criticism against v, it could have been sorted with something called communication. as a punishment, it is very unfortunate since it affected everyone who cared about the community, and not just the ones voicing criticism, which might as well have been legitimate. and then again, the fact that we didn't get a proper statement from s or v. what's up with that? not a word of explanation. i feel that maybe it would have been better if we got to know who did it, and why. now we're just left suspecting it was a collective decision from their side, and that they just don't give a damn about us.
and i'm amazed that they're content with that!
and what is this about locking up the entire thing, but leaving it running until valentines day? is that some kind of sick joke?

Let's keep in mind this was not Stina's decision. The website was never on Stina's webspace. All content was designed by V. and Yves. If those two decided to quit than there is nothing Stina can do about it.

Regarding a new website.
Has anyone ever thought about the fact that Stina's priorities are somewhere else now? She might be in the middle of recording the follow-up to The World Is Saved. That is not something that can be combined with creating a new website.

it's sad how the CQD experience ended for sure, but it's better to remember this place was the root of our meeting and without it we would never meet.
So I don't blame Veronique and other admins for what they did as we all owe them something big : a great community.

And let's forget the past, as the future of this community is here and I hope it will be as active as it was in the past.

Stina was recording (maybe) a follow-up to TWIS some time back.
Interesting that RobB's reappearance has sparked this discussion again...
I was feeling a bit guilty a couple of weeks back for wanting to find some truths about the demise of CQD, and not being afraid to say some things which maybe needed to be said,when some other people were advocating moving on and forgetting.
I wonder if some personal upheaval is at the bottom of all this...but a wedding doesn't seem such a major event-and anyway,as RobB has said,it's pretty straightforward to keep a website going.
I guess,given the level of candour from those involved,we will never know. [:xx]

Fortunately we have some dedicated people here on the forum that first of all have set up this new forum and also have started thinking of continuing the official site; V2 has said that they want to look at it when it's finished and when they (and Stina?) can agree with it, it will become the new official site. Check out Daniels work on that already in the 'new site' thread or here:

We will probably never find out what happenend to the site and the CQD forum and why V. and co. pulled the plug. But having a group of people start a new site and forum gives it a wider basis to ensure a long life!

I recall complaining about the lack of updates the CQD website got yonks ago and I got shot down in flames for it. That "busy times ahead" really got right up my goat!! [censor] [censor] [censor]

The only thing good about CQD was the forum. If you wanted news you always found it in there first!!!

I just hope that whatever Stina does do in the future, it is communicated clearly, easily and directly! No more of this stupid half ass*d poetic aloofness that really only just alienated poeple.

To be fair to Veronique and colleagues,i firmly believe what they would have liked to have said and what they were actually allowed to say are entirely different things.

Although nothing was ever said (or even implied),my understanding (by reading between the lines) is that towards the end CQD were effectively gagged.
