What are your 10 ultimate albums that you could never part with?!?

My top 10 is changing every year so it's hard to tell...
MAybe a top 10 by bands would be more logical for myself.

This is very very difficult....I have literally hundreds and hundreds of albums on cds and cassettes and ....stored away,vinyl records.....I no longer have any idea exactly what I have.
And I won't even begin to consider all those albums that I have heard but have never owned.

So I have come up with a list of six.......six albums which I never tired of hearing. And only two of them is a 'songs' album,.....and one of those is by Stina.

But in order to fill the remaining four places then I would have to pick those four from about fifty other titles, which would be constantly changing anyway.

No Beatles, no Kate Bush, no Pink Floyd.....its that hard a task.

3) 'Ommadawn' - Mike Oldfield

4) 'Voices' - Roger Eno

5) 'Is-Slotter' - Geir Bohren & Bent Aserud

6) 'La Chanson Bien Douce' - Billy Cowie


All of the above have been played many many times over the years......in the case of 'Ommadawn' for over thirty years.......and I never tire of hearing them.

Very hard for me too,I'm sure I have double what even RobB has.
AND a lot of it is classical,ethnic music,jazz etc,where the concept of an 'album' is less important than the music-eg there are probably 50,000 'albums' of Beethoven's 5th.
Have to have a think about a list.

Not my top ten, but albums that nearly always make it into my top ten when I think about such lists.

I would suggest both 'Call the Doctor' and 'Dig Me Out' are essential listening if you like Sleater- Kinney. I would also recommend 'Onebeat'

I wholeheartedy suggest The Hot Rock. A good range for their best stuff. But really they're all great. I love watching Carrie live. That guitar dance...
