Desire Avenue

Yesterday I bought a second hand dvd copy of The Village for a couple of quid.
I'd been put off this film until now by taking too much notice of internet criticism, mainly it now seesm by disappointed folk who were expecting one thing ( a horror film) and getting something entirely different...... a late 19th century (sic) mid-west romantic drama with a clever, if hardly original, twilight zone-ish twist.

I won't spoil the ending for those who have yet to see it but I thought it was a very enjoyable, beautifully photographed film.

M.Night Shyamlam always produces very sensitive, thought provoking films and this is another one.

Yes i like Shyamalan's movies and the 'twist' in the first ones was very nice, but i'm glad he stepped of that concept to avoid repeating himself. And people shouldn't watch this as horror indeed, allthough it can be scary, but I enjoy the love story more.

What i would like to know is when Ivy found the 'road' in the woods,how did she know which direction to take?

I saw this at the cinema and was very disappointed. I always find that his films are not as clever as the director likes to think they are.
