Good to see the name of Jill Sobule turning up here... Have never heard of Lauren Hoffman though. Online samples of Lauren are available here: http://www.myspace.com/laurenhoffman

I listened to a few samples, I think her voice is a bit limited in expressing emotions. But maybe I just have to get used to it.

Best Lauren Hoffman tracks to start with are Fade Away, Lolita, The Ashram Song, Heavy Scene, Song For A Boy and Look Like Sh!t.

She's a very deadpan singer, she recorded her first album when she was 17 and had an awful experience with the major label she signed to. I particularly love John Brion's musical input on Megiddo.

Sarah Mclachlan is also very fond of Lauren Hoffman...
