My god, this was disturbing indeed. Very good but very very disturbing stuff. Not for the easily upset certainly. Anyone else seen this?

What is it, something like that movie about eating and starvation, can't remember the name, fat women fed to death, an obsessive detetictive etc... bahhhhhhh [:xx] [:xx]

No it's a crime thriller about a detective trying to find the person responsible for over 50 murders of children and adolescents, it has malcolm mcdowell in it. It's based on the actual murder spree of this man in the USSR during the 1980's.

The film is very sensitively done with respect to the emotional turmoil the detective goes through handling the case and the fact that he has a daughter the same age as the majority of the victims. It's certainly not a thoughtless horror film.

It highlights the obstacles that prevented the arrest of the murderer due to the political atmosphere of communism. There is virtually no onscreen violence at all, which in my opinion makes it much more disturbing.

The film you are thinking of is Feed, an no, it does not resemble this film in the slightest.

There was an American-made TV movie of this story a few years ago, with I think Frederic Forrest as the detective - really great film, very bleak for something made for telly. The story is heartbreaking and very disturbing. So many of the victims could have been saved if mistakes hadn't been made in the investigation.
