She had a brain tumor and had to be put to sleep. I've spent all weekend crying.

I'm so so sorry Dan, it's so awful when you lose one.

I guess that explains her weird behaviour a while back, then. I was talking to someone recently whose cat suddenly went into very bizarre aggressive behaviour, and it turned out to be a brain tumour as well.

Really feel for you, mate.

I got a new kitten today, Misty was getting very lonely on her own. Anyway she's called Wednesday, after Wednesday Addams, she's mostly black with a white stripe on her nose and white socks. She's 7 weeks old and very demanding. She has a voice on her like nails down a blackboard too

I still keep expecting to see Cinnamon on the book case in the laundry looking out into the back garden, her favourite roosting spot. I miss her terribly, but I had to do what was the kinder option in the long run rather than her being in any more pain.

People will tell you that cats aren't affected by the loss of a companion (in the way that dogs are, for instance), but I know when my kitten Anya was killed the summer before last, her sister Angel was so distressed by her absence in the days following that she began carrying a little rag doll around. She got it out of my daughter's room and took it everywhere in the house with her - when we went up to bed at night, she carried it upstairs, and in the morning brought it back down again. It always had to be in the room she was in. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

Hopefully Wednesday will soon settle in and provide some stability for Misty. Incidentally, I'm not surprised the kitten is so demanding, Daniel - seven weeks is too early to have been separated from her mother. She'll need lots of reassurance and attention for the next few weeks, and maybe some help with litter training unless her mother was exceptionally efficient.

It's partly the reason why I bought her in the pet shop, she seemed far too small to be on sale and looked so miserable. The vet said she was 7 weeks at the very oldest. She's settled in quite well and has taken a shine to every single power cable in the house!

Misty is fascinated by her, I think mainly by the speed in which she can move!!!

It's entirely true about cats and grief, Misty was carrying around a small soft blue toy in her mouth everywhere after Cinnamon died, and made very confused whimpering noises. It was so sad to see.

Ah yes, the kitten/power cable love affair. How quickly we forget.

I lost two mobile phone chargers to the same kitten, who shall not be named here lest she accuses me of holding her childish misdemeanours against her.

Be glad you don't have a dog

I've had to nail down every cable in our house to stop our pooch electrocuting himself (and us).
List of his chewed destructions so far (he's about to be one year old):-
-One pair of computer speakers
-Internet connection
-Two desklamp cables
-My favourite jumper
-Our family tent (ripped the door off,plus torn bedroom door)
-Babysitters shoes (cost £200

)
-Three other sets of shoes
-One Ordnance Survey map (at least,he managed to eat Glastonbury before we caught him

)
-Both rear seatbelts in BORROWED car.Eaten right through in 2 minutes.Managed to find exact replacements on eBay,miraculously.
-One rear seatbelt in my partner's car.
-Climbing Wisteria plant
-Our entire dinner,last Thursday
etc etc

My mother's chihuahua ate 3 of my Fiona Apple CD's in 1997. I was not amused.......

My first cat Pluto ate my gameboy headphones, I was also not particularly thrilled....
