Sol Seppy

Last few weeks i've had Sol Seppy's album 'The Bells Of 1 2' playing a lot,both at home and in the car.

Sophia's music has been likened to Sparklehorse & Mazzy Starr.......I would add Lisa Germano in there too.

Dark,melodic and memorable......her music is brilliant and is definately my top find for 2007.

I should add that 'Enter One' is very Stina-ish / Tori-ish imho.

Listening now .... hmm, much closer to Stina than to Tori, I think (am I the only one who sees those two as almost polar opposites on every level - as musicians, writers and singers? Couldn't be more different from one another, to me.)

I see this artist has worked with Sparklehorse, among others, and actually these tracks remind me much more of Mark Linkous - the vocal delivery, the imagery in some of the lyrics, even the handling of melodies and phrasing - I can almost hear Mark Linkous singing 'Enter One', for instance.

Interesting and very lovely indeed.

On reflection, perhaps Tori wasn't a good comparison. I think I just had her hesitant piano playing on 'Hey Jupitar' in mind.

Well, made me check it out anyway Rob, for which thanks.

Also made me dig out 'It's A Wonderful Life' today for the first time in ages, I'd forgotten how much I love that album.
