Why can't they keep a camera still??

Yesterday I saw the Bourne Ultimatum. It's a movie that is, like the previous movies about Jason Bourne, full of action and suspence. But I must warn that my stomach was working overtime because of the terrible camerawork. It seems that the new technique is that when a fight is on the screen that the camera has to move along with that. The shot is moving heavily because of that. I'm really getting sick of that (literaly).

i have heard similar complaints regarding this film from a few people I know who've seen it!

Well that's good to hear. Yesterday the three friends, I went to see the movie with, looked at me like I was mad when I told them it made me sick.

This free camera technique is more common than you think, it brings more immersion to the audience.
I remember some friends had the same comments when they watched Dancer in the dark at the cinema with me; but at this time I just said it's the Dogma rules
Back in the movie history, I remember a short sequence in Citizen Kane who also had the same shaking effect too.

I've now seen the Bourne Ultimatum and see what you mean; it's okay for action scenes, but what's the point of moving the camera in non-action verbal scenes?? strange and overdone; i hope people will complaint to the director/studio. This is too much! the movie is quite good though, allthough the ending wasn't that spectacular in my opinion...
