Woman Steals Money From Girl Scouts

A woman who volunteered to be a Girl Scout cookie coordinator said she kept money from the sale of about 3,600 boxes because her family was having money problems.

The woman began serving a 30-day sentence in the Stark County Jail on Friday. After that, she must spend 500 hours in community service and repay US$11,000 to the Girl Scouts.

it's sad that people with financial problems (and probably with a family to support) have to resort to such actions in the USA, where as i'm assuming this article is from (and keeping the rather hefty sentence in mind).
it's a sad place to live when you don't fit in...

Its probably going to cost the US taxpayer $11,000 just to keep this woman in jail for 30 days too. [:xx]

In the UK it use to be about ?10k a week......hmmmm,maybe we should send all our prisoners to the US

UK : around ?27,500 to lock up each prisoner for a year; special detention centres for the youngest offenders cost ?2,100 a week per child

Thanks for the figures Alex.....it may have been the cost of keeping young offenders for a month that i remember.

Still alot of money anyway.
