Stina's whistling songs

Walking around town this morning I suddenly realised that I'd been whistling the melody from the main verses of 'Parliament Square'.
Not that I have any idea why I should suddenly start whistling that song out the blue since I havn't even heard it for a couple of months at least.

Anyway,its given me an idea for a new topic.....what are your favourite Stina whistling songs?

I never whistle. I think I'm still psychologically traumatised from my childbood, when my uncle would torment me over my inability to whistle properly. He'd stand me in front of any available audience of family or friends and tell me to whistle and I couldn't and they'd all laugh at me.

He used to do this with the word 'deliberately' as well, which is a VERY HARD WORD for a little girl to say properly.

What a sad story .......erm I mean

Funnily enough my partners 10 year old daughter can't whistle either.
The other day she did ask me how to whistle and that floored me as I didn't have a clue how to explain in words how to whistle. I could only whistle in front of her as a demonstration and when she copied me,she was just blowing out air with not the slightest sound of a whistle.

Anyway Beth,judging by the poor response to this topic I suspect you're not the only one who can't /doesn't whistle......at least whistling Stina's melodies anyway. [b)]

My son can't whistle
I tend to whistle along with music when I'm doing household chores-ANY music,string quartets,James Brown,Mahler symphonies-if I know the melodies,I'm quite likely to whistle along. Which can drive other people nuts.When I was a youngster I used to madden my family by experimenting with whistling and singing at the same time,trying to get the same pitches-or harmonies,even.It's really difficult!
When I'm out and about,I'm much more likely to sing,especially when I'm cycling .I get quite a few puzzled looks from pedestrians,and it helps keep the tin deathboxes at a safe distance. [crazy]

Reminds me of the film "To have and have not",in which Lauren Bacall says to Bogart in her inimitable low,sexy voice -

"If you need me just whistle.You do know how to whistle,dont you ?
You just put your lips together and blow"

That is such a great line.

I sing rather than whistling, I'm always singing to myself when I'm alone, or dong the housework. I used to drive my father mad when I was a child, lying awake in bed at night (I've always been an insomniac) singing hymns. Baby Jesus Meek And Mild was a particular favourite.

I do sing Stina songs to myself occasionally, the other day for some reason I couldn't stop singing 'The Morning Belongs To The Night'.
