I realise that you may get films releasede a bit later down under,but A Scanner Darkley &Pans Labyrinth were both released in 2006.I nfact PL won 3 oscars in last years awards...(yes...unbelievably a decent film actually won something at those egotistical frivolities ).
But I would agree they are both truly wonderful films
I still aint seen Earthsea.It must be out on dvd by now...must go check...

My fave film of 2007... Control.
Worst,most disappointing...Stardust.

I was going off Australian DVD releases, I don't go to the cinema, I find communal viewing distracting and less affecting.

Watch out for Noise, it'll be hitting the UK cinemas this year. It's probably the best Australian film in the last 20 years. It won 4 AFI awards last year and went down a storm at a few film festivals in the UK.

Pan's labyrinth sure was a highlight in an otherwise dull year for me. I didn't go to the cinema much...

I only went to the cinema once last year and that was to see 'I Am Legend' which was enjoyable although I don't think i'll be rushing out to buy the dvd when it becomes available.

Saw plenty of films for the first time last year though via dvd and certainly 'Pan's Labyrinth' was one of the better ones.
