Tales Of Earthsea

This film is gorgeous, another gem from Studio Ghibli, who once again prove that there is much more to animation than the sanatised, intelligence insulting fodder that Disney now churn out.

It's really quite stunning, beautifully animated, and has a decent story that doesn't treat the audience as idiots. If you loved Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, this really will be worth it.

well, i didn't find that one so amazing although it's a good movie nevertheless.
I remember an incredible bit of animation though: when the wind and clouds start covering the sky, you really get a shiver and a real feeling of the wind hitting you in the back. So incredibly well done.
Worth to mention also that this was done by the son of Hayao Myazaki!

I think my favourites from Myazaki were Totoro and Porco Rosso. Have you seen them?
I haven't seen the Moving Castle one yet.

I liked 'Spirited Away' although I thought half an hour could have been edited off it,and I can't take fantasy witches etc seriously for very long.
One of my teenage piano pupils is working her way through the music to some of these films,manga/anime etc.Some of it is beautiful,and she's totally hooked on the genre,-so she's playing them beautifully too. I give her JSBach and Duke Ellington to do as well,to round out the picture.

That's funny, that's exactly why the late Myazaki films don't do it for me!! I hate it when evil has to look evil, why the meanies always have to be stupid and have a big ugly nose??
