Desire Avenue Cover/Remix Project

A lot of people here are musically inclined, so why don't we all do a remix or a cover (or both, or many) of a Stina song and share it here?

this was a bad time to bring it up for me as i'm 1000 miles away from home currently, but i'll get started when i'm back at the end of August

I did a cover of everyone else in the world a while back on a four-track tape recorder and just posted it on myspace (http://www.myspace.com/jimmynoise) i hope you like it. its a rough draft, very shoddily recorded, and i definitely screw up a few times. oh well.

It's a very good idea and I'd love to do have a go at remixing her tracks. I love doing something creative anyday

But unfortunately I don't have a music program to do so.

Can you recommend some free music programs that i can download? What particular program are you using Caaaleb?

That song was recorded on a regular tape recorder with four different tracks then converted to mp3 on a friends fancy equipment.

Normally I use GarageBand, it's a preinstalled program on most macs nowadays.

It's not my mac, unfortunately, it's a friend's and it just died. So it may be a while before I record anything again. The mic on the computer itself is okay but external mics are a lot better. They cut out a lot of the fuzziness that is still more than apparent in all of my songs. eh heh heh. On a regular pc, im really not sure of any comparable program that is free. sorry. Someone else might have some input?

I was going to say Garageband; it's just great. The PC equivalents are the usual messy kludge.One more reason to move over to Mac, if you haven't already.

Reason is a great tool and available on win & mac but it's quite expensive.

If I plan to cover a song, I guess I'll not using this software but instead I'll try to create a whole new music like she did on PAS.

Unfotunately, I do fall into the category of a PC User. It's such a damn shame that there's no free music programs on PCs like there is on Macs. I've been wanting to switch from a PC to a mac for a while now because most of my Advertising coursework has to be done on Photoshop and Illustrator and the compatibility problems are getting pretty annoying when I'm trying to print the document at Uni from their macs that I created on a PC in my flat. Plus there's iMovie on macs which is useful for the short films that we make.

Now, the fact that it has GarageBand as well for free has given me yet another reason to cross over to the Mac side.

I also don't have enough money to buy the program "Reason" either but thanks for the tip.

You can check Ardour : it's a free open source software for recording and mixing sound available on all platforms.

Ardour is not available for Windows, only mac & linux

Acid Express from Sony is a free multitrack software, I use it from time to time and it's quite good

Ah yes, I forgot Ardour was only Linux & Mac compatible... a good reason to change OS.

I downloaded Acid Express. It works on PC alright and everything seem fine and I went through the tutorials and such.

However, when I tried to put music into program, it said that I needed the buy the full version to be able to import music into.

Therefore, unfortunately, I can't seem to remix Stina's tracks using this program.

Is there anyway I can get ejay for free or a free trial? The old versions were quite useful but I seem to have lost them.
