Extremely rare sampler promo

I suspect that most Stina collector's have this item in their collection by now but these 'cheese / snuff' box promo's certainly don't turn up quite so frequently as they did a couple of years back.

I've just got hold of a (possibly even rarer) Stina sampler,'The Music Of Stina Nordenstam 1991-1998',from 'Chrysalis Music Group USA' catalogue number SCO703.Despite looking kind of official,it actually appears to be more of a fan compilation,especially since the CD is a home-burned one,with a paper label and no catalogue/matrix numbers on the CD itself It seems to emanate from someone called Scott Cresto in LA.Nonetheless it does credit 'All masters controlled by EastWest/Warner Bros' and is marked 'promotional use only-not for sale'.
The artwork is disappointing,a compressed scan of a pic from MOAC alone adorns the cover-no other pics,and minimal info.
Perhaps this is why it doesn't appear in some of the Stina discogs,although it does appear in the RAFuchs one.Nevertheless it's the only cross-album sampler apart from 'Music For Pictures'.
So save your money on this one if you see it,unlike me.

What IS good about it is the selection of tracks,some from each of the first four albums,and a pretty good representative selection it is:-

Interesting find.

It seems a bit too elaborate simply to be a 'fan compilation' (i've made several cd-r compilations in the past of various artists but have never gone to the trouble of creating catalogue numbers) and the fact that it was 'home burned' doesn't mean that its not official. I can quite imagine that a very small run of say a dozen copies being run off for 'in-house' use would be done at the home of a marketing guy as opposed to being made at a pressing plant.

I guess it could be a home-made copy of an existing promo album but given none of the original promos have come to light,it weighs in favour that what you have is an original.
Worth having anyway.

I don't think it's a fan comp either. Promo copies can be "home-burned" or give that feeling, at least.

Yeah it's not unusual (thank you Tom...) for some promos to appear home burned, my rather lovely PJ Harvey When Under Ether promo looks home burned and that's official business!

On the back cover is a load of phone nos. etc for members of Chrysalis USA,no doubt ten years out of date now but maybe worth me chasing up to discover the truth.
Perhaps back in 1998 the US market needed some kind of Stina sampler as a promo for PAS?

It seems to be a music publishing promo cd fulfilling the same function as the 'Music For Pictures' promo did five years later.

Well done, RobB, I saw that was upon eBay lately.
I've already got one-and funnily enough I was listening to it not long back.
I like the artwork on it...nice mix of reds and yellows etc.
But I wonder what the point of it was? it's clearly Stina's 'Greatest Hits' brought together along with what would probably be the most user-friendly pair of tracks from the forthcoming TWIS.
Was it to drum up interest for TWIS, released a little later? or a genuine attempt to interest somebody in using Stina's music for soundtracks etc?

I think it was the latter reason. Incidentally,when the promo was issued in January 2004, what made it particularly special was the availability of the new songs,'Get On With Your Life' & 'Parliament Square', a full ten months before they became commonly available on 'The World Is Saved'.
