Stina's backcatologue is selling better than her last album

It seems - after checking the salesrank of the Stina albums on Amazon.co.uk - that Stina's older albums are selling better than The World Is Saved.
I suppose that these salesranks are trustworthy because Amazon is still one of the biggest cd shops on the internet, with boosting sales.

Here are the salesranks (as for now, they constantly change):
Memories Of A Colour, released September 10, 1992

I guess it's logical that People Are Strange has the lowest sales.
It's an album of non-original material. But I've been stunned by the fact that the last album has a lower salesrank than This Is, Memories Of A Colour, Dynamite and And She Closed Her Eyes.

Let's hope that the US release will give TWIS the salesboost it needs. I wonder how long otherwise Stina will manage to make enough money to live from and produce new albums with.

of course the older albums have been longer on sale, so sold more copies to date... I guess that TWIS will rise up on the chart; and let's hope the US release will do it well!
I still think TWIS is a great album!!

The Amazon sales ranks state the present ranks - the numbers mean that TWIS is Stina's least selling "original material" album on Amazon.co.uk.


Since TWIS is the latest CD, it's a bit suprising.

No they don't mean that. It's based on the current sales results. With Suprising results, these are today's salesranks:

Nearly three years and five months on I'm just bumping up Paul's thread on Amazon's sales ranks.

Unfortunately Amazon are not selling MOAC,apart from a Japanese import so the sales rankings for that title are a little misleading but here are the new rankings (old totals in brackets) in order of popularity (ie lower totals = higher sales).

As with MOAC in North America,I think Dynamite's sales rankings have been affected by lack of availability in the UK.

I am not sure if would say This Is is doing "so well on both sides of the pond", but perhaps relative to the other releases.

After all, This Is is one of the rarer titles to get hold on.

Thats true enough as I think it's the only Stina album that is no longer available on catalogue.
However,copies on eBay appear quite regularly.

Thats a good question since 'This Is' is Stina's most 'commercial' album and,IMHO,her strongest.

I guess Independiente felt that it was no longer selling in sufficient enough quantities to justify maintaining it on catalogue.
Had Stina still been with Independiente though then I'm sure it would have been a different matter.

It would have been quite interesting to have known the terms of Stina's contract with Independiente.

Was it a single album deal or was it for,say, a three album deal but with a termination clause built in where either party could leave after one album?

I think given the relatively high budget that was spent on the album ( a month or two in Los Angeles with Tchad Blake & Mitchell Froom & top session musicians wouldn't have been exactly cheap) and also the £55k spent on the promo films,I think Independiente must have been disappointed that the album didn't sell more.

I doubt very much that they made any money out of the venture.
