'Aqualtis' re-run & new 'Quadrio' ads

Here in the UK, the Hotpoint / Ariston 'Aqualtis' washing machine advert,feat 'Ask The Mountains', is currently being shown again on primetime tv.
I wonder how many of the potential eight million viewers are asking 'Who's that strange singer? '

Just been watching on tv (Discovery Channel) a new 'space/sci-fi' advert from Hotpoint,advertising their Quadrio fridge-freezer range.

Once again they are using the Vangeles / Stina song 'Ask The Mountains' as the soundtrack.

Just saw the (very brief) Quadrio ad on C4 between the halves of a Simpsons episode.
I wonder how these advertising types come up with certain music for certain brands? Seems like Vangelis/Stina is doomed to accompany the 'white goods' of Western society.
(Only the Quadrio,like my new fridge, is black )

Kind of ironic that more people will have heard Stina singing via that ad than from all her records put together.
I must admit I really like Ask The Mountains although I'd be less keen without Stina's 'floaty' vocals, which are a stunning showcase for her voice.

Ah see I don't even like the vocals on that track, they just annoy me for some reason. Strange.

There is something Enya-ish about it,which has even led some of the people making (pretty crappy) videos for the song on YouTube to label it as being by Enya [:xx]
I like the song,mostly because of it's atmosphere of desolate loss,which I'm a sucker for. Plus Mr.Papathanissiiwhatsisface does a good line in instrumental textures,(albeit bordering dangerously on the naff.Hence the washing machines,I guess.)
I much prefer 'Slow Piece' anyway.

If the YouTube comments are anything to go by,a whole lot of people are now discovering 'Ask The Mountains' (and Stina?) for the first time,which makes me wonder if a re-issue of the single could be on the cards.
