Pinnacle Entertainment in trouble

Leading UK distribution music company Pinnacle Entertainment have gone into administration.

Pinnacle have for many years been distributing the music of independant music companies to High street retailers, including no doubt Stina's recent albums,hence this news report being posted here.

So Pinnacle have finally gone under as too have Zavvi (formerly Virgin Megastores) by the look of things.
The way things are going HMV will be the only music shop left in the UK where you can walk in off the street and buy one of Stina's albums.

Same thing happening over here. Hardly any CD stores left, not a single one in the town I grew up in.

I went to my local HMV shop the other day,and went upstairs (there are 3 floors) to the classical/jazz/etc section to take refuge from the crappy pop they play downstairs,only to discover that ALL the music and CDs/ are,since Xmas, crammed into one small room.So where there used to be an element of choice,a wide range of artists etc,there's now a kind of LCD of perceived taste.Instead of a range of serious music-composers/artists etc,there are now just Naxos and ClassicFM cheapo CDs; the stock of jazz has dwindled to the likes of Ella Fitzgerald/Miles Davis/Weather Report etc-safe bets,and the folk/ethnic/country sections have been steamrollered into one amorphous lump,about a quarter the size of before.Similarly the rock/pop section,although significantly larger than everything else,is at least a half of its previous size.
Downstairs,where the rock/pop used to be,is just chart CDs,mp3 accessories and fol-de-rol.The third floor is entirely taken up with DVDs,which seem to have supplanted CDs as preferred 'bring home' merchandise.
