It was forty years ago this lunchtime!
Re: It was forty years ago this lunchtime!
the beginning of the end
I believe in your smile everyday
But I know that you're far from my way
When I talk to the moon I can hear you
In the dark I can see, I can feel your light
But I know that you're far from my way
When I talk to the moon I can hear you
In the dark I can see, I can feel your light

Best (and last) gig they ever did.I love the way that 'Let it be' (the film) ends, after all the studio squabblings and substandard renditions, with the gig on the roof where they put it all together at last.

If you look closely at the rooftop to the right of Macca's head.........sound world wrote:And,don't tell us,you were there,RobB??![]()

Incidentally gang, you might be interested to learn that Mr Dave Soundworld Esq makes an appearance in the second link, at approx 0:47 .......or was it 1:40 ?
I love the beginning of the third linked footage ......where John Lennon is needing to have the lyrics to 'Dig A Pony' to be held up for him.

Yes,I endorse those sentiments entirely.Extraordinary to think I was only 10 years old at the time.RobB wrote:

Oi,we can't both be 10 year olds at the time (January 1969) ?sound world wrote:Yes,I endorse those sentiments entirely.Extraordinary to think I was only 10 years old at the time.![]()
One of us is being economical with their adding up...........and sure ain't me.

There is perhaps a serious side to these members of the public giving their views. There's been a lot of annoyance from Beatle fans about why the Let It Be film hasn't been released on DVD and one possible reason is that the people interviewed (or more likely their descendants in a couple of cases) are probably proving untraceable And without their permission, the film can't be released in its original format.

And now's the right time to have a repeat! But who could do that? Stina?
Re: It was forty years ago this lunchtime!
The Bootleg Beatles wanted to recreate the concert on the same rooftop today but owing to 'health & safety' regulations, the various authorities, including the police, wouldn't allow it.picsou wrote:And now's the right time to have a repeat! But who could do that? Stina?

Seriously though I thought you were a year older than you actually are so you're right,we would have both been the same age in late January 1969.
In fact,we will always be the same age in terms of years for 18 days each year.

Ah, the beards and shaggy coats period. Love it.
I can actually remember when the news broke that they'd split up. I was only three, but I remember my parents and various friends of theirs in the living room discussing it, completely traumatised. I thought it was thrilling.
