Well, colour me surprised, because I actually love this! The cover is glam without any of the distracting silliness of the 'concept' being shoved in our faces as with TOAL, TBK and ADP, it feels very pre-all that Tori to me, which is a nice surprise. No blatantly WTF? titles either, it's all kind of simple and straightforward. Me likey.

Would be nice if the music was good too, but we'll see.

Release date is 19th May.

I would have liked to have seen Tori without a mask but yes,the cover is pleasing to the eye. The colours are nice.

Yeah I love the colours, and the 60s-style make up. Glam but not over the top. More than anything though, I love that it's just .... Tori. This is how her album covers used to be, just a strong image of her and not a lot to distract from it. That feels like a good omen, to me.

A more concise number of tracks would have been very welcome, yes. I think we all feel like that, at this point. But if a goodly number of them are half-decent, I'll be pleased.

I've decided to steer clear of the hype/debate in the Tori forums for this one, I want to just come to it without all the chatter in my ears. So I won't be bringing the leaks to this board, when they happen. Someone else will have to do that!

Its the old adage about a chain being only as strong as its weakest link.
However many good songs there are,its only going to take two or three poor songs and it will screw up the album.
And when Tori's songs are poor they really are distractingly poor.

I'm already expecting some not-so-good stuff in there, but I guess I'm hoping that the ratio will have changed on this one - the bad far outweighed the good on the last two records. She really needs to have it mostly together on the new album, because I think even her hardcore fanbase has begun to lose patience. It's so frustrating when you know she's capable of greatness at the top of her game.

I've basically gotten two little EPs out of TBK and ADP, so if I can actually get an album's worth of tracks I like from this one - ten or twelve - I'll be over the moon.

I like the cover although it is - again - a nice commercial for botox (or photoshop, either way: she doesn't look this good in real life from the tourfootage that I've seen).

As for the tracks: I'm concerned it are too many. I mean she got away with that on Scarlet's Walk on the other albums (The Beekeeper and American Doll Posse) the material was weak, very weak. But who know's. I'm still hoping for a comeback.

Oh yeah, she's Botoxed/airbrushed to hell, but I was expecting that, after the last few years. She clearly has a huge problem with getting older, and that ain't gonna change anytime soon. I'm just relieved that she looks as good as she does on this cover, to be honest, because with the eye surgery and browlift she had after Scarlet's Walk era, she actually looks very ODD in real life, now. She just doesn't look like herself anymore, which is tragic, because she was a very beautiful woman - naturally. She was starting to look really stunning during Scarlet's Walk, in that wise-older-woman sort of way. And she'll never get that back now because of the surgery.

Maybe she just had a "WHAT THE!..." moment, realizing what garbage the Beekeeper is.

So the first track from the new album has leaked - 'Welcome To England' was played on a radio station in Austin this evening, presumably the station has been given a promo copy/sampler in preparation for her live performance at the SXSW festival tomorrow night.

I've listened to the track maybe half a dozen times so far. Really like it - a few nice little touches in production, synth effects and so on, love the vocals. As expected it's nothing earth-shattering, but a definite improvement over the production on the last two albums. A lot of people are likening it to a cross between Venus and Scarlet in terms of sound, and I'd go along with that.

Seems like a rehash of the languid Scarlet's Walk melodies with an extra synth. Even if it is better than ADP or TBK, it's not particularly interesting. I'll give the whole album an honest listen when it comes out, though.

It's strange because I like it much better than most of the last two records, but it's not actually doing a lot for me ... it's just nice, I guess, but that's not really what you go to Tori for.

And she needs to make her husband put down the goddamn guitar. Or at least learn to play it in a more interesting way. His style is so unremittingly 80s rawk. Ugh. I never thought I'd say this, but bring back Caton! I was listening to the RAINN Caught A Lite Sneeze earlier and his accompaniment is so awesome. Say what you like about him as a person, but as a musician he absolutely knew how to bring atmosphere and drama to the songs.

This is going to be another long rawk album, innit. Step away from the band, Tori! [b)]
