I've had quite a busy day....starting off with the weekly food shop at Sainsburys at 7.15am.....nice and quiet in store then.
Then spent most of the morning in the garden, doing some weeding on the rockery and general tidying up.
Then this afternoon I took a walk into town (and back) where I spent an hour at my building society closing down/opening up new accounts to take advantage of higher interest rates.
Was so tired when I got in from work tonight, after not sleeping much the night before ... I decided to just 'shut my eyes for half an hour' and fell into a deep sleep. I'm gonna be up half the night again, now. Then shattered by the time I've finished work tomorrow. Rinse and repeat.
Rob, those pics are awesome!! Oh my god, it seems my childhood fascination is back with a vengeance. I'm going to have to go on one of those things. I wonder if you can just book to go back and forth from Plymouth to IOW all day long?
Picsou, another visitor to London - I'm starting to think if we do ever get our 'board meeting' organised we should do it in London, rather than Stockholm, seeing as some of our European members already know the place. (Less chance of me breaking into Stina's house on a quest for The Boots, too.)
Ice, you were the one most tender with the rivers.
You, the roof of the waves, layer after layer after layer ...
Parliament Square - good idea! I don't think Vero would actually materialise though, at least not in plain sight. She'd be around somewhere, in disguise, taking pictures of us all and then when we got back home and logged on she'd be like, AHAHHAHA!!
Good morning, all. Yes I have been up all night, yes I am finally getting sleepy, and yes it is time to go get ready for work. I'm tempted to have a soak in a hot bath but I'd probably fall asleep and drown, so it's a brisk shower for me instead.
Have a good day, people.

Make that Portsmouth but i suppose you could.....but not on one ticket i suspect.
Someone was saying that Portsmouth is only four and a half miles away across the bay and the speed those hovercraft gets up to it doesn't take many minutes to get across.
Certainly a lot less time than the car ferry from Southamption to the IOW which takes an hour to chug across.

That is a good idea,I'd be keen on that. We could even visit the road down into the underground carpark that 'the prisoner' takes in his Lotus at the beginning of each episode. Thats only a 5 minute walk away.

Don't see why not.......after all,she owns the square

Not a good idea! We are moving to.........................Melbourne at the end of the summer! Unless the doctors find something fishy with us.

Was in London April 6-10, with my daughter (her name is Iona). My wife (her mom) had to stay home because of a big f..k at work.
London is...exhausting!!! We were lucky with the weather. The Eye was not a success, Iona does not like heights. Shopping was a success!!!
Best moment, for me: Kew Gardens! A friend works there. Lovely to be in a quiet, not smelly place for a couple of hours!
Hey Picsou, that's weird-when did you go on the Eye? My family and I were there on April 10th,just before we went to France, and went on the Eye at about 6pm! I'm scared of heights but I was OK,the structure looked reassuringly solid, and I found it pretty amazing.
Kew is great isn't it?-except for the planes, which go over from Heathrow every 45 seconds. Perhaps you went on one of the days when they change the flightpath. Did you go to the bamboo gardens?-if so you might have seen the musical structures I made there in 2001 (if they're still there). The planes drove me crazy working there, plus it was just after 9/11 so they felt doubly sinister...
I just started to upload some London pics on Flickr.
I believe in your smile everyday
But I know that you're far from my way
When I talk to the moon I can hear you
In the dark I can see, I can feel your light

Yes,very nice photos Alex and very nice weather you had too by the look of the London Eye photo.
Today i've been busy in the bathroom, fitting new wooden (well MDF) panels to the sides of the bath and this afternoon i've been outside cutting the hedge, with hand shears rather than the electric trimmer to minimise disturbance of any nesting birds.

We were there the 7th.
It was impressive, I enjoyed it!
Kew is unique! We did not see the bamboo garden. You should have told me before!!!! The young lady was "also" very interested in shopping. So we went to the huge shopping mall, Easftfield or something, not far away from Kew. Nice mall actually.
Saw that Viring Megastore has disappeared. Luckily HMV has a good jazz section.
Another day, we went to the Bristish Museum. Too many people, very tiring!
Last day, before picking up our suitcase and heading for Gatwick, we went to the Zoo. Pleasant enough.
Eating out was relatively cheap, but bars can be expensive enough with a weak pound.
OK; that would have been extremely strange if we'd been on the Eye at the same time!
Today is the one weekday I don't teach the piano (I have to have one or I'd go crazy),so I've been working on Special Schools stuff and tying up dozens of loose ends.Special Schools stuff is the admin and routine MD tasks I do for the music Festival that I coordinate every year involving all the Special schools in the county. As well as a big final performance (2 concerts) in July, there's also ongoing visits to each school by several of us musos, plus Dance groups,Film workshops etc so I have a lot of coordinating to do,sorting out wage scales, arranging visits, liaising between people etc etc.AND doing all the musical arrangements for the songs that get chosen, including several that we write with the children, which is the fun part.Today I worked hard on a song we made up the other day in one school, about a volcano; making a backing track for them to rehearse to,knocking the corners off the rough material, adding little touches etc etc, making bubbling/gurgling loops, trying to give the song a beginning, middle and end w/out compromising any of the children's ideas.
Also making a flyer for the gig my singing group are doing in the Bath Festival.Publicity material is SO easy on the Mac...
Then off to the Dentist again (though I don't have any teeth problems, never had a filling in my life so I count my blessings),Doctor again-result of latest blood test is that I still have high cholesterol despite changing my diet pretty radically.I guess it's Statins for me.
Back home to walk the dog (lovely day for it,thrushes singing rapturously) and sort out the w/e (partner away with girls group),I have a party gig with my soul-and-ska band tomorrow night so need to arrange sleepover for my son, transport to his morning theatre club etc etc.Sort out the music and keyboard settings for the gig, locate all the amps and leads and foldback and whatnot, make sure all the band (7-piece) know the setlist and the charts and how to get to the venue etc etc.I haven't done a gig for quite a while, strangely,so I feel a bit apprehensive (as well as excited).Wave goodbye to partner, attempt to play Mario Super Kart on the Wii with my son (don't get past the first bend, which makes him laugh),make fajitas for dinner, listened to Sibelius Fourth.
Inbetween all this, keeping up with news from the World Table Tennis championships in Yokohama.TT is one of my other real passions!
I'm exhausted just reading about your life. Makes me appreciate my own boring daily routine!
All I've done today is run up and down stairs at work getting more and more stock down. My legs are wonderfully toned since I started working there, but my asthmatic lungs don't appreciate the steep steps quite as much.
My daughter is leaving home on Monday. Proper leaving home, moving into her own house with her boyfriend. She's just bounced in from work, all excited and happy because she's going over there tonight to give the place the big moving-in clean up. Boyfriend is decorating, bits and pieces of stuff are being transferred from her room to the new place. She's so thrilled. And I'm so happy for her. But .... my little girl is leaving home.
