Happy 40th Birthday 'Abbey Road'

Yep, it was forty years ago today (26th September 1969) that the Beatles released their last recorded album, 'Abbey Road' *
After the 'White album' this is definately my favourite Beatles album.
Lots of excellent tracks,my personal faves being 'You Never Gave Me Your Money' & ' Golden Slumbers'.

Anyone else have Abbey Road in their collection?

* even though bits of Let It Be were recorded after this release.

'Golden Slumbers' is so beautiful, I must dig the album out. Haven't heard it for ages.

Abbey Road is easily my favourite Beatles album...well,I love Revolver too,but Abbey Road,pretty good on Side One,becomes a masterpiece on Side Two (sorry,folks,it will always be an LP with two sides for me).
The suite of songs (assembled from half-finished fragments) is one of the best things that ever happened in rock music.I don't know if George Martin was responsible,but I wouldn't be surprised.
My favourite,if held over a barrel,is 'Sun King',hilarious stoner latino; I'm a sucker for that tango rhythm.

I have been known to deliver learned discourses on these songs-beware!

I don't know if you're aware of this Dave but originally what is now side two was going to be side one and vice versa. The switch was only made shortly before release. So,as originally intended,side two would have ended with that sudden cut in 'I Want You (She's So Heavy).
