Anyway, got back safely yesterday from a five day break in west Cornwall where (as the following photos will show) the weather was erm......changable.

Actually the weather was pretty good with the only rain falling at night. Last Monday was a bit windy and overcast although Tuesday was mainly sunny blue skies. Ah well,thats our weather wityh no two days alike.

Here's a few piccies i threatened you all with last Friday.




Between Penzance & Newlyn a fresh water stream enters the sea which provides the attraction for various birds including these two swans.



The causeway across to St Michaels Mount at Marizion, a bit quieter than it would have been a couple of months earlier.



Walking back towards Penzance, storm clouds gathering but it stayed dry until nightfall.

Ah,that takes me back. My family lived in Cornwall through the 70s,80s and early 90s, so all those places are like old friends...plus I've walked the entire Cornish coastpath.
Pity you didn't go a week or two earlier-September is usually the best time to be in Cornwall,but especially this year,glorious weather.

I've never lived in Cornwall but have visited most years since (cough) 1962 so its like a second home in a way.
I wasn't planning a visit this year though but decided to go at 10 days notice so I took a chance with the weather but it wasn't too bad really.
I've walked the coastline between Marizion and Pendeen ( a few times) but I havn't attempted the whole coastline.
I think it would be beyond me now.

Here's another from the swan session. Amazing the variation that can be achieved simply by swinging around and shooting in a new direction.

Do you know, I've never seen swans in the sea like that. I don't know why but it strikes me as rather odd.

I'm just so used to seeing them floating on the placid surfaces of ponds, I guess.

How strange,i've just noticed some swans further out at sea which i hadn't noticed at the time.
Well, either its a swan or its the loch Ness monster on his hols?

I was gonna say, with a bit of careful editing you could make something of that!

It's just so weird to see swans out in the sea. We don't think of them as seabirds.

Brrr, I've been offline for a while. Had the flu and was really feeling sick. I didn't remember how bad it feels to have the flu. But I seem to be getting back on my feet now, thankfully.

Real flu is horrible. There seems to be a particularly nasty strain going around at the moment, quite apart from the swine flu.

Don't try to do too much until you're completely back to full health, Paul. Flu has a horrible way of coming back to haunt you if you don't let yourself recover properly.

I've just got back from 2-day trip to London with my newly 14-year-old son,both totally knackered-seem to have walked miles and miles. Went to various Museums (London Docklands/Natural History/Maritime/Planetarium etc), Tower Bridge, Hamley's (really crap and naff now compared to what it was back in the day) and Harrods, which was both wonderful and sick-making (box of chocolates for £10,000, each choccy had a diamond attached,wouldn't you know). And lots of other things,all involving the Tube and miles of footslogging. But it was what he wanted to do, and we've made a plan to do 14 things this year, just me and him, as a kind of modern rite of passage into adulthood. (This trip felt like about ten of them ).
What was great for me was that I didn't have to look at a map or an A-Z or plan a tube journey once. My son is a dab hand at all that stuff already and enjoys planning and mapping, so I didn't need to keep getting my specs out. Plus I'm famous for having the WRONG sense of direction (worse than no sense of direction!).
Now I'm off to Sheffield for three days, and I will miss not having him around, especially when I find myself on a tram going the opposite way from where I'm supposed to be going...

So when WE meet up in April, bagsy not do too much travelling around!

I've been lucky.I've never had flu and I don't personally know anyone who has ever had flu either.
A rotten cold is usually what i get a couple of times a year.
