Where is Stina now?!

I don't think the album is completed. When i contacted engineer/producer David Osterburg in October 2008, he told me that they started work on the follow up album to The World is Saved 'about three years ago' & 'they got quite far' before the sessions were halted 'for various reasons'. He hadn't heard from Stina for some time when i contacted him,presumably for two plus years.
They may have picked up on the sessions again since October 2008 but somehow i doubt it. Assuming they havn't and given that half the album is now approximately five years old, i just can't envisage Stina working up any enthusiasm for material that old.

And let's not forget that Stina was working on ANOTHER project soon after the TWIS material was ready,c. 2004 I remember V. telling us. Whatever that was has long since been forgotten..

Stina has certainly produced work since the release of The World Is Saved'

First there was Isens Fasor (Horrors Of The Ice),the audio docu-dramawhich Stina was working on during January / February / March 2003, during the time between completion and the release of TWIS. I wonder if that was the project that V was referring to?

Then there were the two projects from 2005, 'Tank Dig En Manniska' ('Imagine A Person'),which was a sound installation project premiered in May followed by 'Orioneatern' (Tarantula'), a monologue based play premiered in October.

Also probably in 2005 was when Stina began the follow up album to TWIS so that was quite a busy year.

And it was also in October 2005 when Nine Horses released their album featuring Stina's contribution.

But from 2006 until now there appears to have been no reports on any Stina's activity at all,apart from her contribution to Filur's Into the Wasteland' rel: May 2006, and even that could have been recorded the year before.

The artwork of the Coming Soon page was made by Casper Bjorke of Filur. He had made it on request of Stina and it would be the theme for the artwork of an upcoming album, at least that was the initial plan. I have e-mailed Casper about this and he told me the album was never finished and so he never made the full artwork.

So I guess that artwork of the website was the start of something but - like the album - was never finished.

I'm very curious wether the stinanordenstam.com page will be renewed by Stina. If she doesn't do that I guess the message would be very clear. Artists nowadays always promote their music through a website.

Mostly an album doesn't get recorded song by song. It could very well be that most of the songs she started recording are all half finished. So that would mean she would first have to finish recording all the instruments perhaps some vocals. That would mean she'd have to pay for studiotime. With Stina's worldwide sales of 50.000 copies per album (until The World Is Saved) it might very well be that releasing a single is not very profitable.

It would be interesting to see how many copies of The World Is Saved have been sold worldwide. If those sales were less than expected, it could be that Stina doesn't have the money to fund a new musical project without a recordcompany.

Let's face it: who would sign a woman in her forties who is still waiting for her big break to come, who refuses to play live or do any promotion for an album. In these economic circumstances that would be suicide for any recordcompany. [b)]

That true unfortunately which probably explains why The World is Saved was self-funded. And of course Stina was only 33 when she was making that album.

But i didn't get the impression that the new album sessions were brought to a halt owing to any financial considerations. I'm sure Stina could easily have completed the album at home with hired recording equipment if that had been the case.

How Stina makes her albums though is an interesting area which we've never really had the opportunity to explore.
