Oooh, Del's been mouthing off, has he? I must say he comes across as a bit of a twit in the book, I remember there were rumours that Kate's family weren't too impressed with him and I can kind of see why.
I was wrapped up in my quilt on the sofa most of the day yesterday so I got stuck into the book and in fact I'm enjoying it, I like the writing style and the fact that the writer isn't just up Kate's backside with non-stop cries of 'genius!11!!', the way every other male journalist in the history of the world seems to be. He clearly loves her music but has the ability to step back and look at her objectively, seeing the real person, not the sugar-coated version we get rammed down our throats all the time. I was pretty shocked to read about the instances where even early in her career she'd claimed all the credit for certain things that were actually done by other people, her choreography and some of the ideas that went into her stage show. I knew of instances later in her career where she claimed credit for other people's work, but it was a surprise to learn of the earlier incidents. Typical Leo behaviour, I have to say.
I really love the way the writer paints a portrait of her childhood at East Wickham Farm that accurately explains how it shaped her later work, without sailing off into the airy-fairy version you always hear elsewhere. She was an incredibly lucky little girl to have been raised in such a loving, protective environment where she was encouraged to express herself and think of her imagination as a valuable gift. Luck has played a very big part in her achievements.

Bless him, he usually gets me whatever Tori has released during the year, but this is the first year for ages that there hasn't been anything new!! Kate was obviously the fall-back.
