Hope you enjoyed your time in the UK, Paul - did you get to the Bronte house? Its somewhere I'd like to go as well, just to get a feeling of the atmosphere that informed so much extraordinary writing.

We had pretty great weather up north in June, hopefully you didn't get rained on too much!

When you visit the UK then you pack for rainy days too. But the weather was really lovely with just two mildly rainy days, both of which we were walking a trail.... Nothing you can do than just walk on steadily.

I did get to the parsonage! We slept in Hayworth and although it's suited for tourists, I enjoyed all the bookshops and artstores, and picked some small metal sculpture as a nice souvenir!

If you get the chance you should certainly pay it a visit, Beth.

Hello Paul!

Yes, I'm Daniel, though I tend to go by Dan or Danny now. I'm still making music but Parkinson's has slowed my releasing and ceased my ability to play live. My Quietus album has somehow ended up all over the internet and sold okay. I'm gradually working on 2 albums of new material, but it's slow progress and due to periods of debilitation I just have to walk away from working completely. I never talk to anyone other than my husband about my music work these days, my attempts at self promotion were always dreadful and my old posts on here are very difficult to read in retrospect as they really make me sound pretentious and egotistical

At the moment I'm listening to Agnes Obel, Judee Sill, Margaret Glaspy, Autechre, Tanita Tikaram (very much looking forward to her new album L.I.A.R.), King Crimson, Laurie Anderson, Pooka, Susanne Sundfør, Bowery Electric, May Blitz, Queenadreena, Aurora, Renaissance, Dawn Of The Replicants... It varies but they are my usual go to choices

How are things with you and what are you currently listening to? I don't use the internet much so would love to hear any recommendations

Hello, all. Is anyone still here? Special wave to Dan, it was nice to 'see' you here again, although it looks like that was last year already. You mentioned Judee Sill, did you see the documentary about her that came out a few years back?

I've been thinking about this crew lately, I've had two vivid Stina dreams in the past month or so. In one of them, I went to see her play live in Chicago. Wow, if only! Some of this group were there, too. I still think about her sometimes and hope that she's healthy and content. I really enjoyed listening to the This Is reissue that came out last year (or was it longer ago than that? My memory is really not great).

Things have been good with me (well, personally anyway, politically... not so much). My older son graduated from high school this year. I do remember announcing when he was born to you all. It feels like a couple of years ago. My younger son is almost 16 now. They are both working and doing well. I've been working at a library the past several years, I can't remember if I mentioned that the last time I was here. And I'm going to be in London for a few days this fall! I'm very excited for the trip. I have been researching all of the record stores, museums, coffee shops, markets, etc. and I am really looking forward to it. Still going to concerts when I can - Tori is up next in just over a week.

Well, I wanted to pop in and say hi whether anyone sees it or not. It will probably be another year til next time. Take care, fam.

About the dream, well it also happened to me to dream of Stina a while back, she was not playing live but had a kind of unreachable feeling, like a ghost or something, that was so stinaish!

We definitely need to revive this topic and share infos / musical recommendations from each other.

My last "big" concert was Sugar's reunion tour in June at Paris, it was soooooo good to hear them 33 years after the last time! Such a blast!

Good to hear all your news (I had a brief career in Libraries long ago!). Hope your kids are turning out well. My son is 30 now and about to get married soon - and is a fine human being.

As for me - ...I'm a couple of years into getting a pension.... I had a pacemaker fitted in April after I had a pretty close shave when my heart stopped for 7 seconds - luckily the good old National Health Service in the UK were amazing. But I'm good for another 20 years now, fit and well despite all that, still very active in all kinds of musical things.

Sorry to learn of your recent health problems Dave but relieved that you've made a complete recovery.

Erm,I'm in my second year of receiving my pension too and also currently making good use of my free bus pass,travelling locally all over the place. I've even given up driving.Just back from Wales (Snowdonia) where I made three consecutive day visits to Portmeirion....my fave place in the UK. I'm as busy as ever with my charity work (EACH & Farleigh Hospice...I was managing the local EACH shop yesterday in absence of staff) and I've been busy on-line promoting Let's Eat Grandma. I've been to five related solo gigs this year with two more next month,in Norwich & London. Health wise I'm currently okay (touch wood) but you can never tell what's coming around the corner.

Hi, Dave! I'm glad to hear that your pacemaker is doing its job, that sounds like a scary experience. A woman came into my workplace today who had her knee replaced two weeks ago - I couldn't believe how mobile she was. Modern medicine is amazing. And congrats to your son on his upcoming wedding! I'm really loving my boys' teen years. They are not without their issues, but I love their teen brains and having their friends around the house and listening to them and laughing with them (even when I have no idea what they're talking about). People like to be negative about this generation, but they're whip smart and I have a lot of faith in them.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the Sugar reunion, I've heard Bob Mould's solo shows are great, too. Another concert I went to recently was Aimee Mann, she was fantastic. Looking forward to First Aid Kit at Royal Albert Hall coming up next! <3
