I'm not getting married, not yet at least, but I have my little piece of news: I'm pregnant . So far it's not at all what I hoped it would be, I am sick sick sick and pre-partum depressed [cry] [help] . Nobody prepares you to feel like this, it's hard and one feels guilty for not being exstatic...

I know you're having a scary time at the moment and you probably feel like shit most of the time, but girl, it doesn't last - you and your body will get used to it!! I was so horribly ill for the first bit, then I hit five months and suddenly I felt transcendently wonderful! Just go with your body, and don't feel guilty for feeling low right now. It's normal, honestly.

I've started the fourth month and I see no improvements, it's despairing, really. I am not scared as the first days, try not to think too much of the delivery yet , just feeling ok would make all the difference.

Hi Elfy, glad to see you're surviving the pre-wedding nightmare! I imagine it must be very chaotic for you, if her family is huge. Thankfully over here things are rather more sedate, I've been spared the ordeal of organising any of it - my daughter jumped in straight away and volunteered to get the whole thing together, she loves all that. Dominic is helping her and there is some kind of surprise being cooked up, I haven't been told anything about where it is going to happen or what kind of ceremony, I'll find out on the day! I'm just praying it doesn't turn out to be something weird like getting married on the London Eye or something. Anyway it's all happening on the 26th August, then we'll be off on honeymoon. I haven't been told where that will be either, probably Skegness knowing my luck.

The one thing I have been finding extremely stressful is the matter of my dress. My daughter was supposed to be designing it, but we were arguing about it from the word go and then had a huge row, so the situation now is that I've told her I'll just get something myself off the peg. The trouble is that I want something very plain and simple because I am terribly self-conscious physically, I don't have the looks to carry off a 'wow' dress and I'd rather not pretend otherwise. My daughter doesn't understand that, she thinks it should be a 'wow' dress because it's the only time I'll get married and blah blah blah. She's an extremely goodlooking girl and just doesn't understand my feelings. [b)] It's all been very upsetting, we don't often fight like this. And now I have to find a dress myself, and I'm starting to panic that if I choose something I feel comfortable in, something simple, I'll be a disappointment to Dom. I wouldn't have believed the matter of a dress could cause me this much stress.

I'm just trying very hard to keep in mind that it's ONLY ONE DAY. The really important bit is the life you have together afterward.
