I know her from only one track, but something is telling me that girl could be my next sweet and big little discovery after Susanna and The Magical Orchestra at the beginning of last year, and YES, she's Norvegian too. Not my fault, they got class that is! Surrounded by some fellows from Jaga Jazzist, Shining and others, Hanne is a completely different affair than Susanna. First proof, she isn't going thru any Rune Grammofon, Jazzland, Sofa or Smalltown Supersound labels, she's on Leaf, thru this unknown to me Norvegian label called Propeller Recordings. Second, she's surrounded by mainly acoustic instruments: saxophones, glockenspiel, piano, lyre, violin, Wurlitzer and various domestic objects. Third, her vocals seems far jazzier, at least for what I've heard on that excellent, original AND catchy song called "Ease".

Yes this record caught my eye as well, and I shall be purchasing ASAP, I am also keen to get the Susanne record as well, I presume you heartily recommend it?

Theres an interview with Hanne in The Irish Times talking about her new (second )album"Rykestrasse 68"in which "Swedish singer and composer Stina Nordenstam"is named as a "common comparison".
On this album shes using "found sounds"such as clockwork toys winding down,struck chandeliers and purring cats.Sounds interesting.
Did anyone get into her music?
Also,Its nice to read a bit of Spooks descriptive prose again.I miss him

I nearly went to see her last month at the Bath Festival.But I'd spent my other-people's-gigs allowance already...

I bought the first album, and found it to be a bit hit and miss, a few of the tracks I really grew to love, Boble, cast anchor and words & a peice of paper, the other tracks I found a little to Jazz influenced for my tastes (nothing against jazz in general). I would be intersted to hear what the second album sounds like though, I may be tempted into purchasing it too.

The second album isn't as good as the first.

Although I think the first is a 5 star album.

I saw Hanne live, she made quite an impact on a crowd of people who had never heard of her before. I heard people coming out saying "that was really good" and "that's so very different". Which made me smile because she's one of my artists.
