To be fair though, I think the vital difference is that our armed services are not DELIBERATELY TARGETING innocent civilians. The other side are, without any qualms at all. If you want to fight a 'holy war', fight it with the armed services of the countries/governments you oppose. Don't put bombs on London trains and buses at rush hour and kill innocent people of every faith and culture, including fellow-Muslims, on their way to work.

Sorry, but as with the IRA when they targeted civilians back in the 70s and 80s, this lot are murdering scum, simple as that. If and when they are caught, they will be tried as murderers, not 'soldiers'.

Well, personally, I think they should be tried as mentally insane ,because anyone even considering doing what those "murderous scum" have done, must be mad.

However,revenge can be a maddening emotion.We dont know their past.Have their relatives ,friends ,loved ones been killed by "western forces" ?.Thereby being controlled by that red rage that is perpetuated by so many films,tv shows where the "good guy/people" are murdered and then promised that the murdering bastards who did this will be hunted down and killed,and it doesnt really matter who else gets hurt in the pursuance of "justice".

In Iraq yesterday , three suicide bombers killed over 40 people and injured many more.One of these at the entrance to a hospital.This happens most every day.No one knows how many innocent civilians have been killed in Iraq because nobodys counting.Some estimates say 100,000 killed,400,000 injured.

I ask myself,are innocent people who are murdered in London,more important than innocent people who are murdered in Iraq ?

Tears are streaming down my face as i write these words.
Its all so fucking sad and tragic.

I agree with you barrett. The wester world has created its own enemies and now attemps solving their own mistakes by means of violence. No good can come out of it and sadly New York, Madrid and now London have had to face it first hand as a result of it.

the people in london were really murdered just with the cause of killing and creating fear; the goal of the war in iraq albeit dubious in origin was however not to kill any civilians but just to destroy the regime of iraq. It's sad that you compare real terrorists with soldiers doing their duty. we, the people decide democratically about our leaders and their actions. I don't think the goal of the European union and it's countries is to kill off people.

I created "news of the day" and not "serouis news of the day" so if you have special needs just create a topic about serious stuffs only.

The most dreadful thing for the people of the UK right now is, I think, that three of the bombers were young BRITISH men - born and raised in this country, perfectly ordinary in many respects, and all fatally corrupted by their encounter with those extremists - those fascists, let's call them by the right name - who seek by murderous means to impose their religious beliefs on others.

One of the bombers - the only one not born in this country - was living in the same town as me, and I can't begin to express how horrified and stunned people are here. One of my Muslim colleagues knew him, prayed alongside him at the town mosque. He's as horrified as anyone at what's happened, simply cannot understand how he could do the terrible thing he did.

And now, my daughter informs me, the BNP are coming to Aylesbury soon to stage a protest march in response.

That phrase is getting rather tired - no offense - 'cause strangely enough almost everytime you encounter it it seems to be with a nasty offense right next to it.

No, seriously. This is hardly the forum to take on this discussion. Internet-debate always seems to take out the worst in people. Rest assured that I am educated enough to make my own opinions based upon the facts and the <i>experiences</i> I have. As usual, this matter is very complicated and I'm sure we both hold some grain to the origins and possible solutions to the whole conflict. Calling my post "trotting out the tired 'it's all the West's fault' crap" is a gross simplification of what I meant to say and clearly shows that this discussion has gone sour without even beginning properly.

Fine, if you don't wish to back up your opinions. Which are, as expressed in the post I quoted, a good example of the gross simplification you speak of. Which is why I would urge you to learn a bit more about the subject.

Its just that i dont see surveys as ANY kind of news really.
I mean...we could run a survey on "Which colour wig suits Stina best?" or "Above the knee or below the knee boots --YOU DECIDE ".....but it would'nt be news.
