Marissa Nadler

Does anyone know this lady? I got her first album few weeks ago, a 2004 release ''Ballads of living and dying'' and now she has a new album out "The Saga Of Mayflower May". I'm sure Stina fans will love her, she sings with an acoustic guitar and a banjo (!) and she has so beautiful melancholic melodies!

I'm going to resurrect this topic from back in early Summer because Marissa Nadler is AMAZING and I really, truly think that many Stina fans would love her music - her debut album is one of the most haunting I've ever heard and it still astounds me that something so delicate can simultaneously be that intense - it almost makes me stop breathing and I don't know whether it's because I'm scared I might blow the music away or whether it's because I'm in so totally under it's command that I couldn't inhale independently if I tried?!

Other artists to check out if you like Marissa Nadler would be Josephine Foster and Faun Fables (aka Dawn McCarthy), who trade in a similar brand of ghostly, authentic, eccentric avant-folk - although this comparison should in no way detract from the fact that they are all truly singular artists.

This is some of the best new music I have heard in a long time and none of these artists has recieved the recognition they deserve - yet!

Great to see that there is someone here who likes Marissa!
"Ballads of living and dying" is my favourite record,i almost have the same 'symptoms' every time i listen to it!
And thanks for the rest recommendations, promise to check these ladies out!
