Does anybody remember the rumour back in the mid 90's that Stina was composing the title track to a James Bond film?
Nothing came of this but curiously the song,"Dynamite" was released as a remixed single in March 1997 , a "soundtrack mix" by new James Bond composer,David Arnold.
So this has got me thinking. Was Stina commissioned by the producers of the then in production Bond film "Tomorrow Never Dies" to compose the title song,the recording of which was mixed by David Arnold?
Then later, the producers rejected the song/recording and instead gave the work to Sheryl Crow & Mitchell Froom who eventually supplied the title song.
In the mean time,Stina released the song as the title track of her new album,and not wishing to waste David Arnold's version, put that out as the single.
Perhaps "Dynamite" was the working title for "Tomorrow Never Dies"?
According to that watertight source of absolutely non-apocryphal trivia Wikipedia:
A March 10, 1997 report in the New York Daily News on the production of the as-yet untitled film ( then being referred to as Bond 18 ) indicated that several titles were being considered for the film, including: Shamelady, Avatar, Shatterhand, Zero Windchill and the title considered most likely ? Tomorrow Never Dies.
I'd've thought Dynamite an inappropriate name for that film, but Zero Windchill? Shamelady!?
And it looks like k.d. lang tried out for the title song too but was rejected.
So, yeah, none the wiser really. In fact, I don't know why I'm bothering to post this at all.
