I dont have an mp3 player but i can prodably borrow a friends tomorrow and upload it.Is there a way to do it without one ? [help]

Ohhh yes. You don't need a standalone mp3 player to encode it at all. Simply download this free, beginner's program;

1. After installing this program, start the program (skip the registration screen) and put your cd-r into your drive. The program should soon find the disk (if you only have one cd-drive on your pc) and list all the tracks on your cd-r.

2. If 'The Thing About Fire' is track 12 on the cd-r, for instance, untick all the other tracks and highlight Track 12. Then click on the Extract button (making a note of where the file/s are on your pc afterwards - default is the 'Output' folder of the main 'CD to MP3...' folder under 'C:\Program Files').

3. After the track has been fully extracted, it will be encoded to an mp3 file automatically (i.e. 'Track12.mp3'). Simply locate this file and upload it to rapidshare like you did with the previous file.

That should do it!

If Barrett's doesn't work,I have it.(No,not the single,kuhn!!)
It's a good song unforgivably missed off 'This Is',but you should all be warned that it has quite a lo-fi sound,probably intentionally.Sounds like a demo that Mitchell Froom didn't bother to go further with.

Sound World, you wrote that your favorite non-album track is Common Miracle. Haven't heard of this before... is it the same as "The Miracle"? And does anyone have the Mew collaboration? Would love to hear it if anyone would be kind enough to upload it.

mamamoth-No,'Common miracle' was made about 3-4 years back for someone else to sing at the end of a film,but it never happened.There is a version by Stina with piano.It's sublime and deceptively simple.
Re:Mew-What noiser means is that 'Her voice is beyond her years' has a one minute piano/voice coda on one version (not including Stina but very nice anyway).
The 'Failing to fly' instrumental is an instrumental outtake from the vocal version.The snippet is used in the 'Jean-Claude' film.
There are quite a few 'Holy Grails' out there not on official releases.
'Isens fasor';'Sov du lilla videung';the extra demo from ASCHE come to mind.Plus there must be a lot of outtakes from the studio sessions.There are two known extant live recordings of Stina but more in the vaults of Swedish radio.There are also two very obscure records where she sang backing vocals early in her career etc etc.

Hi barrett,

Many thanks for your time in sorting this out, but unfortunately when I play it, its 2:57mins of clicks and pops - no stina at all.

I don't think the mp3 was encoded by the program properly.

Hmmm.

It's very cheeky of me to ask this, but (because I've been dying to hear this track for years!) could you try one las time to encode it - or perhaps someone else here could have a go with their copy?

In thanks and anticipation for those here about to upload some Stina 'Holy Grails', I thought I'd offer a gift too.

Okay, so some of you have got the Isens Fasor show, or just the 1 minute rough-cut excerpt of Stina's title track.

Well, here's what I hope to be seen as the definitive version of the title song - the 2:35 minute, 3 movement full-length version of the radio play track.

Its mixed seamlessly from the radio show and is therefore good but lo-fi quality. For audiophiles; its encoded in lossless LAME compression for the best possible sound.

'Ensam pa havet' is the song Stina wrote (in Swedish) for the late Monika Zetterlund,who sings it here.Stina's only song in Swedish.
'Varmlandsvisan' is a traditional Swedish song (some people know it as 'Dear old Stockholm') sung here by Freddie Wadling and Stina (on the last verse).

Yes, thank you for all of the wonderful downloads everyone! And sound world, thanks for the info. One last request, only one (sorry, two): Noiser, would love to have access to the long version of the Mew collaboration if you find the time (Thank you!) and I have the Faschings live recording courtesy of this forum, does anyone have the other that they would be willing to share with all of us?

If I had anything to offer I would as getting the music out there is what it's all about!
