Rob, I don't want to be a stay-home mom either, I don't think I could. I'd enjoy my baby as I want to, but I know myself, I tend to withdraw if I'm alone enough time, I'd end up wanting to do less and less...The economical part is important too, we could make it with my partner's salary only, but he'd have to work on week-ends too then and we'd hardly see each other, not really my idea of a family. Also, I just started REAL work, I'm not sure I'm ready to give it up already when I haven't had a carrier yet...lots of things to consider. The only sure thing is that if I keep feeling this alienated at work, I will have to take a decision, one way or another. First I wanna see if I get back into the right rythm or not. I haven't stopped missing Iker anyway, this is such a wonderful period, he's growing so quickly...

Ditto. You should never mention your liking of TATU again!

(even though your mention of them possesed me to go out and buy their first cd yesterday...i wasn't even looking, it just popped up!! I've been listening to it ever over and over since i bought it. It brings great memories back. Oh, college days)

Sara, perhaps a compromise of working part-time and gradually easing your way back into working full time would have been easier for you?

Tatu is like candy. Enyable for the moment but ultimately unsatisfying (and maybe even bad for you) in the long run.

Sigur R?s is like a proper meal. Maybe not as colorful or fun as candy... but it satisfies you in the long run and it's good for you.

I don't know Sigur Ros, so i can't say anything about that.

Well, Kuhn,to be honest-my russian is very bad... I have never learnt it properly, all i know i know it from the street and everyday life, although my wife is russian.
Now I have to take classes myself because next year we probably won't be here anymore...
It's never too late Kuhn, you can probably learn it if you really want to!
It's not easy though...

), but I'm so sad to hear you've been struggling, Sara. I worked full time on a nightshift when my daughter was little, I felt I had no choice as I was a single mother and didn't want to be dependent on benefits. At times though I used to just sit and cry in sheer exhaustion and frustration - I seemed to have no life at all, and I hardly got to see the child I was working so hard to support. I'd see her for a little while in the early morning after I got home from work, take her off to nursery, then go home and get my sleep. She'd be picked up from nursery at lunchtime by the childminder, then passed on to my mother when she got home from work at 3pm. I'd then see her again for about two hours around teatime, before I had to go off to work again at 6.30pm. She had to sleep at her grandmother's of course, so she was hardly spending any time at all in her own home/bed.

Eventually, the whole rigmarole took its toll. My daughter became a stroppy and withdrawn toddler, refusing to do anything I told her, and in the end she wouldn't even say goodbye to me in the evening when I went off to work. I can't describe how upsetting it was. At that point, realising that my child was in distress and our bond was breaking down, I gave up work. I decided I would rather suffer the guilt and stigma of living on benefits for a while than put our emotional well-being at any further risk.

It was the best decision I ever made. With her mum at home full-time, she rapidly blossomed into a happy, carefree little girl, which was all that mattered to me.

Everyone has to find their own solution to this dilemma - I admire any woman who can get the balance right and manage to have a working life without affecting her children too much, because it's the toughest thing in the world to do. I found it much easier later on, when I had a partner and my daughter was in school. I worked part-time in school hours only for a while, which gave us the best of both worlds. But when they are tiny .... lord, it's so hard.

I'm sure it's not easy. If you don't mind me asking, how did you end up living in Russia - I remember you mentioned something at CQD about a teaching at a school?

Dear Kuhn, I am sorry to reply so late:! I was busy for a while!
Yeash , i had found a great job in Russia (teaching and more) and so i came...
Then i met my wife, got married and now...my contract ends in August and we are looking for a job anywhere in the world for next september.we might end up teaching english in China...it's poor salary but an interesting experience.
