I discovered Stina thru the Romem & Juliet soundtrack
How original is that ?
then a friend of mine (who happens to be a sound recorder) brought People are strange a few years later

Yes it was called "Star hits" in America, but alas, my brother does not have the magazine anymore, although I could have imagined the whole incident as I am prone to do. He has saved just about everything, and had a lot of magazines from '91, many with Chris Isaak in them (just not shirtless). well, I'll have to dig deeper next time I'm over his house...

I'm sorry to hear that. I did a Google Images search for chris isaak shirtless, but no results. It tells me moderately safe search is on and, in this case, I think I'll keep it that way.

Oh, bless your heart, although it wasn't the shirtless picture of Chris Isaak I was really hoping for (although, mind you, I might do my own search...)

I discovered Stina via MTV in '93; they were playing the Little Star video quite a lot.
I was in a recording studio in Oxford for two weeks with a band I had just joined, feeling a little bit isolated, and I was immediately drawn and comforted by the song.
I then went to Texas for a (disastrous) holiday, and when I got back to Heathrow I saw the ASCHE CD in the HMV shop and saw that it had 'Little Star' and checked out the title of the first song (my name is Debbie) - absolutely HAD to get it!!!!

I wrote to her once around that time, and received a lovely postcard from her in return ( I cannot find it now for love nor money, unfortunately).
None of my friends or partners have liked her music, though, in all these years!
Finding this site has made my year!

That's a pity Debbie...back in the days when she communicated with her fans a little! (be nice if she left a msg here sometime.She left about three at CQD...)

As I remember it was a pastel Christmas tree-type design.
I had invited her to the Hultsfred festival that year to see my band at the time; unsurprisingly, she declined, but at least I got a reponse!

I've been a fan of Sarah Brightman for awhile now, and she's done a cover of Murder in Mairyland Park. I thought the song was beautiful and wanted to hear the original. I liked it very much when I did.

Thats one of the nice things about having your favourite artist doing cover versions........it does open up opportunities to discover other artists.

I really enjoyed Sarah's version which was so faithful to the original that I remember reading accounts on the internet at the time that Sarah had used the original backing track.

It is incredibly faithful except that some of Stina's typical nonsensical vocal chorus syllables are rendered into words at one point; and there's also a completely vacuous and superfluous guitar solo,kind of Brian May circa 1977.

i think it was september, 2001. I love her from the first time i've seen the lori glory video on VH1,
her voice was heavenly beautiful [angel] like i was never heard before.
