Actually it wasn't that difficult to find discographies and so on.There's always been loads of books of the 'Music master' /'Price guide to rare records' type,magazines like 'Record Collector' and fan groups in the music press.Depends what kind of music you're into.

Um ... no, it wasn't. It was pretty easy, unless you were blind, deaf and agoraphobic. Or living on another planet.

That's the trouble with the internet, it's made people so lazy.

I suppose it might be a generational thing. I'd still far rather have a book or similar to leaf through to find my info.

You wonder if some of these people ever get out in the actual world.

What a sad, strange thing - a generation for whom, if something isn't available to them instantly at the click of a key, it's 'too hard.'

Indeed.Especially members who have been involved with this forum and its predecessors ever since its incarnation.Long before it was 'dead'.
The reason this board is moribund is more to do with lack of any respect or regard from the artist and those who surround her,I'd say.People become bored with 'mysteries' when they're never given any clues.

Some free advice, coz I'm in a good mood:

1. When you've publicly admitted that you don't know how to find out about music without the internet, try not to make yourself look like an even bigger arse by calling other people cretins.

2. Next time you try to join an established forum, introduce yourself first with a cheery ' hi, I'm (insert name)'. A friendly overture works wonders. Take some time to get to know the people who frequent the place, chat a bit, tell them about yourself and your interests in an amiable manner. Don't repeat the tactic you've used here, of making one post out of the blue then coming back weeks later to whine like a petulant baby because no-one could summon up enough interest to reply. And try not to react with overt adolescent sarcasm when an established member responds politely with a clear, concise explanation for why no-one answered your post.

3. Develop some social skills. Getting out of the house every now and then will help you achieve this.

Talking of whom...
I said a coupla posts back that the reason this board is comparatively torpid is that there's so little coming from the top...
...but rereading dozens of old CQD threads today,despite some of them being hard to follow due to deletions (

) I actually think that what made that forum-and before it the Barbieboard-special,was the level of committed banter between various key personnel who I hope won't mind me citing their names,(with a short resum? of their present situation)-RobB,the aforementioned Ms LaBleu,x31eq,Elfy,pgss,(all still posting in greater or lesser amounts),Duncan

,Spook

,Angie

,yrwitch (work/life/child),michael

,Franck

and others.
I've been laughing so much reading all the old posts, ...but it makes me feel very sad too

.It justs needs six or seven of us to keep coming back and making the place fun,essentially.C'mon! Come back Spook,Doc,Angie...etc!!

Agree wholeheartedly with the rest of your post, btw. I always did feel that the atmosphere we created in the older boards was far more to do with us as people reacting off each other, than our common interest in Stina. Her music was the thread that drew us together, but we made the bond ourselves.

Things change, though. People change, life takes over.
