Batman Begins

Curious to hear what you think of this film. I'm not a great fan of this type of movie usually, nor a DC Comics enthusiast, I mainly wanted to see it because it was directed by Christopher Nolan, of 'Memento' fame.

I've watched it about five times over the past couple of weeks, and each time I'm not sure whether I like it.

Obviously it must have something to make me watch it so many times, but what, exactly? Christian Bale seems miscast as the hero, and Katie Holmes is pretty wishy-washy as Rachel. The script seems seriously under-written for much of the movie, although it occurred to me maybe that's a deliberate reflection of the original comic-book style.

I don't like all that Ninja-training-in-Tibet stuff at the beginning, I thought with Chrisopher Nolan involved that part of the story would be a little less obvious, psychologically. Strange. I do love the look of the movie though, Gotham is fantastic.

I'm not a great fan of that kind of movies too. The fist comic made into a film that I liked was Sin City.

I haven't seen 'Sin City' yet but it's on my to-rent list.

Funny the same goes for Batman begins, I still have to see that one too.

Although Sin City is very raw instead of other "superhero-movies" which is a lot of action, special effects but always stay very familyfriendly.

Batman Begins is a bit more developed than the other batman movies. I didn't mind the whole training in Tibet stuff, because at least it shows he didn't magically aquire powers like spiderman or whoever.
I really liked it. Great action. It's awesome in surround sound. It's not V for Vendetta, but it's alright.

Sin City was good, too. I just hate it because of who showed it to me. And I could never see Alexis Bledel as a prostitute after seeing her on Gilmore Girls for years. Never.

Actually I thought that Alexis Bledel was believable as a prostitute. I really liked the part her character played near the end of the movie.
