Stina Live?

Hi there,

I'm totally newbie in here so I might ask a questions which has been asked 1.000 times before:

Does Stina Nordenstam ever goes live for our pleasure?

--- Somewhere I once read that this is something she doesn't do...

----Hopefully this has changed

Hello Adam,

Welcome aboard. It's no shame to ask questions even though they've been asked before.

Stina does not play live anymore. I remember a statement from an interview in which she said that she didn't think she was bad live. But she just didn't get the point of going through feelings over and over and over again.

But there is an illegal live recording on the net available with some tracks from Memories Of A Color and some unreleased tracks. She did perform around the time that MOAC was released.

Hello Adam and welcome to these boards.

In her younger,pre-recording contract days, Stina use to perform I guess you could say semi-regularly with her jazz/band outfit 'The Flippermen'.

But after 'Memories Of A Color' was issued the concerts virtually dried up until around the time of 'And She Closed Her Eyes' when she had a poor reception (or at least a bad experience)at a London venue (can't remember which one off-hand) since which Stina hasn't performed live at all.

Maybe if Stina has seen her sister Emma playing live in recent years then perhaps that will inspire Stina to take to the stage once more.
I hope so as she has plenty of songs now from which to choose from and would be in an ideal position to put together a very interesting set.

Well, it is honest of Stina to say that she doesn't what to go over the same feelings again... But hey: What about us fans...

For my sake I have never seen her live, she appearantly stopped playing live at the time I discovered her

Just a quick thought from where I sit: If she went to the Roskilde Festival on one of the minor stages I am quite sure that she would get a huge experience of success ... ( Stina, if you read this

Com'on and try it out for the sake of great fun! )

Those illegal records you are taking about I've heard about as well...

Hi Adam.The gig RobB referred to in London was at the Jazz Caf? in 1994.
There WAS an announcement in 2003 that Stina would play live in Dublin,confirmed by the hall itself and her (then) official website.But it all fell through in the usual mysterious way.

To clarify what Paul said:- Stina hasn't ruled out the possibility of performing live,but every time she's been asked about it in an interview,she's said 'not yet' effectively.She's described herself as someone who is creative in the studio environment,which is,of course,totally different from the live arena.She doesn't want to simply repeat herself/her songs,but be creative in front of an audience.
She also,if memory serves me right,was due to read some poems (by another woman) a year or two back in Germany I think...Don't know if that ever happened.

I think it's worth repeating that a creative artist doesn't necessarily owe their fans anything.

... you are absolutely right: Stina doesn't owe us anything at all - she has already given us a lot; and hopefully much more will come

It didn't happen and I think it wasn't about poems, burt excerpts from a novel.

I went and booked a hotel and train to go to Dublin for that gig that never happened. Supposedly she pulled out because of too much publicity in the run up to what was an invitation only concert. On the old CQD website there were people from South, North, Central America and further afield saying they were booking flights to Ireland for that gig. Crazy. Anyway, it might happen in the future. The bootleg is really good if you ever get around to getting it.

Thats the place. Funny, I've never came across a single on-line account by anyone in the audience.

Maybe Stina got her dates wrong and peformed when the cafe was closed?

Oh yes,I seem to remember that in our excitement in finding the solution to V's cryptic clue that we were already making plans to attend the concert in............Oslo !!! ......or somewhere like that.

In fact I believed that V?ronique - the webmaster of seekyoudanger.com - never officially announced the gig in Dublin. I even believe that V. made the statement that the gig was not known by Stina.

SeekYouDanger did announce the bookreading in Germany but soon wrote that the performance was cancelled.

I just went to check this,because I was reading the old CQD thread about Dublin the other day in the Google cache,and I remember quite clearly that Vero endorsed the rumour (sorry Paul!

)
BUT
the whole Google cache for CQD has disappeared

apart from the store/goodbye message etc.
I wonder who was responsible??

I also note that Veronique has moved from HongKong airport to Iceland (see the GoogleEarth thingy).

the bookreading went through, but v2 informed us stina didn't attend after all.

Love to...I can get to Iceland (the supermarket) easily enough

The one in the North Sea might be a bit more of a challenge.
