Cultural learnings of America aka Borat

Well, it seems to be one of the most discussed movies lately and i've seen it twice -only because when my brother visited last weekend he wanted to go see it after i had already..

It's indeed funny allthough you have to be open minded for this kind of humour i think. It's what we're used to in the Netherlands, so i wasn't that upset with Borat making jokes about minorities. It was funny to see how people react to him in America

The next movie will be about Bruno; that should be interesting too

I don't find Sacha Baron-Cohen all that funny, really. Not that I object to his 'politically incorrect' material - humour is a safety valve as far as I'm concerned, it's more or less above the rules. I just don't find his characters all that amusing.

That guy who caused all the controversy on Channel 4 a few years back, Chris Morris I think his name was, pulled off that style of comedy far, far better than SBC. The one that seemed to more or less finish his career on TV, the 'expose' of paedophiles, was way edgier and much more savage in it's indictment of society's hypocrisy than anything Borat is likely to come out with.
