The Beatles - Love

This album contains new mixes of Beatles's classic songs made for Le cirque du soleil show in Las Vegas.
First the sound quality is wonderful ! Sir George Martin did a very good job !
Now the songs : the mixes are a bit surprising at first as it mixed like a single track, like DJs do usually. But it's for a circus show so this is normal.
It's nice to hear something not so conventional compared to the usual same releases for Christmas.

I'll have to disagree with you there, Alex.
I thought the sound was dull and lacking any real dynamics.
I found it especially poor when comparing the overall sound to that of 1999's 'Yellow Submarine Songtrack' album.

The version of (for example) 'Eleanor Rigby' on that album knocks the spots off the new one.

Sound issues aside though, I really like this album. There are some really interesting remixes,especially 'Gnik Nus' ( the 'Sun King' backwards ) which has a very enjoyable and interesting melody.

At 78 minutes and available for under a tenner, 'Love' overall presents pretty good value. :)

I should have added that I only listen to the DVD DTS audio track and not the CD version so my comment was about the sound of this part, which is fabulous. I have many DTS DVD at home but few of them have this quality, even more from songs so old !

Hmmm-SunKing is one of my favourite Beatles songs.Have to hunt around for this maybe...

I got it for Xmas. I really liked the contrast of Within You Without You's vocal on top of Tomorrow Never Knows's backing track, and there are interesting things going on practically throughout the album.
it would be interesting to hear it whilst watching the show. The sound quality on the DVD DTS disc is superb.
Recommended listing, definitely.
