Nick Drake

Some time ago I was introduced to his music when i was given the album 'Five leaves Left'; it's been one of the cd's i've most listened to lately and i would recommend it to all of you, allthough I think many of you know him already. It seems there's some similarities between Drake and Stina in that they didn't receive much commercial attention during their career and they both don't prefer to perform live; also the music has a similar atmosphere; i really like it. Fortunately Stina is still doing better than Nick Drake, cause he died young at 26. He's become more and more populare after his death in 1974. I guess this shows how good his music really was and is now also considered one of the best of it's kind.

I remember seing a nice programme about Drake.
His music is indeed good, but not on grey days, at least for me.

I used to listened to Nick Drake a lot some years ago. It's just melancholic and naive music, i think, nothing special, bores quickly when you litsten too much : ). He is slightly overrated due to his death, i think.

There is no way Nick Drake can EVER be overrated , it's not casual all kind of different artists quote him as inspiration or keep getting compared to him. Just naive and melancholic music? Then Stina is a voiceless whiner...

I just wanted to say that I am SO happy to see Witchy posting with some passion again!!

I'm reasonably fine I think, although I think I had my share of bad luck for the next year already

I'm not gonna talk about it here and now.
At the moment Iker has bronchitis and it took us a bit too long before finding out and start a cure, so we feel a bit guilty, but I can see it's already working, he's much more active and he eats a bit more.

Work is just crazy, we are way too busy...

I just hate the word overrated; it's not used objectively enough, but people like to use it to give more credit to their own opinion I think; and thus I would never use it, just give my opinion and give an indication of what others think...

We could say Stina is underrated, but that's not true as well, she's maybe even overrated by us fans, she's just not known by a wide audience...

In one of Stina's interviews she's asked what she's listening to,and she replies 'two records-some Schnittke,and an old album of Nick Drake'.
Maybe we should start a thread of 'known music that Stina likes (or has liked)'.Not a lot that she's admitted to.

About Nick Drake, well, I bought a 4CD box years ago with his 3 official releases and unreleased stuff on the 4th, and he remains a major artist for me. It's not just melancholic and naive, it's pure BEAUTY.

And not speaking of his finger picking technique.

Nick Drake's story is very tragic.
It's true - the drugs don't work.

I only recently discovered he is lived a few miles from my house and I've become a big fan.

If you listed all of the artists who quote Nick as an influence, I am sure a lot of them would feature on the favourite artists list of posters to this site.
