It depends on each of you as I cannot do it alone anymore.
As I stil lhaven't received news from V2 I guess we haveto manage this without them...
So I need people to help me if you wish to keep this message board online.
What I need ? People to admin the board with me, some creative people to have a prettier board, 1 or 2 people to help me to pay the hosting server (it will cost 10-15 euros each month) and maybe someone to write articles about Stina and about music in general.
If I have all of this I'm sure we can keep this place alive for years and maybe attract new members too.
You can reply to this message and tell us what you opinion and if you are willing to participate to this new project.

I think if everyone donates a bit each month it should be easy to keep the forum alive. there are at least 10+(?) regular members so if we all donated 2 or 3 euros a month it shouldn't bee too expensive for anyone. i can add more promotion for Desire Avenue in my fanspace.
maybe we could offer a rarity of the month to attract more visitors and donations?
another thing, when new members join we have no idea what anyone is talking about when you talk about the barbieboard or CQD forums, or the CQD book, so it's kind of.. awkward for us when everyone is lamenting about something we have no idea about...

I've voted no.
I think next year we will see the release of a new album from Stina and,if so, no doubt there will be a corresponding website and (hopefully) forum to match.
An official website / forum will be where all the action will be taking place.
I don't see how throwing more time and money into this diminishing community is going to change much.
Alex has done an excellent job in holding what remains of the CQD community together these past two years but I think its time now just to let things slip away naturally and see what happens when the new album is released.

What setup are you thinking of for donations? Paypal? I'd be happy to help write bits and pieces - time permitting. If there is enough subject matter, that is. I think it would be good to get a semi-steady flow of new material of any sort onto the site.
It might be a good idea to sticky a comprehensive FAQ at the top of the forum - maybe we can start a thread to put a FAQ together cooperatively. Then we have somewhere to point newbies to (for e.g. their CQD/barbieboard questions...).

I voted no also. I believe this is not going to work with the current group. We've become too-attached. We've become a group, hard for others to get in between. I believe - like Rob has written - that a future stina website might have a board (maybe even a re?ncarnation of this one). Maybe we'll see each other there. Maybe we won't. I'm still in my cynic mood, I've been an optimist but this time around I lost interest in Stina the artist.

Maybe another thing we should consider is that for a lot of people who used to post on this bored our lives have drastically changed over the last few years. It sometimes is an unfortunate fact of life that as we grow older we grow more attached to what is vitally important and less attached to what is not. You keep some friends and you lose some friends. I agree with Rob that when a new Stina album comes out, there is bound to be an avenue of communication for fans.
Also I think a big consideration is that Stina is not the sort of person who would want 'the big time'. She is an artist, not a performer. I believe she makes her music because it is something in her that she has to do as an avenue of outlet. If you look at the people who have made it big, for a vast majority of them it is not really a performer but an entourage of people behind them pulling the strings. I could never see Stina in that position. She's independent, and I think makes a lot of financial sacrifices to get her music released. Which I can tell you is an exhaustive process in itself. I'm not surprised that she doesn't feel like making videos or really getting onto the promotional circuit.
I'm at a point where I can really empathise with Stina. I have blown so many chances at 'the big time', ruined record deals, been uncompromising, even simply walking away from the whole thing at one point. I have spent years building myself a little recording facility where I can make my music. I've totally given up trying to sell anything now. I simply make music because I need to. Not for the need to sell it. So in a sense Stina did make it because we can all (if we can find the shops that stock her!!) obtain her music. Her albums are still being release 15-16 years on and she hasn't resorted to online selling only yet.
Over this time there has always been an avenue for fans to communicate. If the board goes, something will return in it's place. Maybe it's evolution, but it's certainly not the end. The end would be Stina retiring from music and never being heard of again. I don't quite think that is going to happen yet. Look at Joni Mitchell, she vowed at one point that she would not write songs or release an album. 2007, her first album of new material for nearly 10 years is due. Kate Bush released nothing for almost 13 years, but her fans didn't stop talking to each other in the gap between The Red Shoes and Aerial. I'm sure we can all keep in contact somehow. At this point in time especially it is too easy to keep in touch!

I love Stina's music more than any other-it hits a raw nerve in me that nobody else reaches.I've no idea why.
She is an extraordinary artist although very few people seem to have realised that.But that's the way it's gone forever and a day with all kinds of extraordinary musicians.
Right now I'm listening to the music she did for the Magasin installation-it's the most recent music I've heard by her-and it gets under your skin,like all the best Stina.I can't wait to hear what she comes up with next.

Money is ot the main problem and if I have to pay more to host I can deal with this, but I don't want a dead message board anymore. That's why I need more people involved here.

I just got a e-mail from Dave. (sorry, I haven't checked the hotmail account in ages).
I'm sorry about that but I've been having a busy period where thing haven't turned out the way it should, and where my Stina interest have been "modest". But enough about me, left's focus on the main issue:
One of the reason's I'm no longer interested in the artist Stina Nordenstam is the lack of communication from V2. If you still remember I was contacted by someone (receiving e-mails three different people from the company) regarding making a official site. Then I contacted Daniel (the Swedish one), and he made a prototype site. However V2 never ever got back to me, no feedback nothing even after several requests, which left me partly feeling really bad after all the time Daniel spent - and I'm sure he's a busy person as well. I did get an e-mail from V2 about directing my site to the stinanordenstam.com url this autumn, but that didn't happen either. Oh well!
Stina Nordenstam doesn't seem to a the person interested in communicating with her fase base. Fair enough, we'll have to accept that. But why isnt' she - or perhaps rather the record company - giving this forum, the Stina myspace or all the Stina forums out there more information about what the artist is releasing or even teasers about the forthcoming album.
The way it works now people have to seek out the information themselves. The V2 site doesn't even mention her collaboration with another V2 act Filur. How hard is it to write a few words there? I'm pretty sure Filur would have sold more records if more people knew about the collaboration. And don't get me started with the Nine Horses thing.
I doesn't surprise me that the forum is less active, especially after we lost all the CQD posts - which I this look upon as a goldmine of information and discussion. I feels strange starting a new discussion about whatever when the full context is missing.

2) The DA.com site will expire on Jan. 18. - and I'm not sure what to do with it.
3) Pgss has left the Stina community. He will be missed.

- It would perhaps help a little if the forum was given a face lift, just like my soon five (!) year old site. However, I am not sure there is much to be said about Stina that hasn't been said, much less writing articles about the artist. The problem is again the lack of information. We don't really know much about, say, the Dynamite sessions.
Sadly V?ronique never said anything about why CQD closed. But could it have been due to lack of interest or support from the artist/record company?
And regarding the money thing: This is a semi-official Stina forum - if V2 doesn't want to split in, I'm not sure if a hand full of people should end up paying 10-15 euros/month to keep it alive.
