Missed opportunity

I'm no big fan of blogging,from here it looks like the ultimate in vanity,but I recently stumbled on the blog written by Bad Plus pianist Ethan Iverson,which is hilarious and consistently arresting if you have an interest in music.Highly recommended-http://thebadplus.typepad.com/dothemath/

Anyway,The Bad Plus (if you don't know them,an American piano/bass/drums trio who are a bit of a cult,they've made an album of Radiohead covers,and covered tracks by the likes of Nirvana,Vangelis and so on-all of which they subvert and deconstruct.Their music is fascinating and unclassifiable)-make their CDs with engineer Tchad Blake.

That's right,he who engineered the last two Stina albums.

And I saw The Bad Plus at last year's Bath Festival-they were on with Polar Bear,one of my favourite bands,who I'd come to hear.I hadn't then heard of the Bad Plus or their association with Tchad,but I came away bowled over by their originality and commitment.
And now I discover from the blog that Tchad was there too,in the audience at Bath.If I'd known,I'd have sought him out and buttonholed him about working with Stina....Damn!

(Another thing about The Bad Plus-their drummer is called Dave King-hey!! how cool is that! I did seek HIM out after the gig and we had a laugh about sharing the same name.)
