Get on With Your Life covered by Peter Broderick

Has anyone heard US singer Peter Broderick's cover of 'Get on With Your Life' featured on his new album? I can't say I'm a big fan of his, but I came across this cover last week and it's getting great reviews as a stand out track on his album. Apparently he had never heard about Stina until his friend at Beacon Sounds (who put out The World is Saved on vinyl) played if to him and he liked it so much he wanted to cover it. The Guardian and some other places praise the groove of the song. Obviously since everybody seems to find the song so strong, and it being a cover, she could have had that success herself, had she actually wanted it

The live version is on Youtube, the album is on Spotify. He does it okay, but it doesn't have the raw emotion of Stina's original. Nice if it makes anybody else discover her music though.

This is probably old news, but there is also a version of this song by the Swedish group/artist David Sandström Overdrive on his 2005 album "Go Down!" I can't find it on Youtube but it seems to be on Spotify (at least in some countries).

Interestingly Peter,like Stina, seems to be singing 'Get It On With Your Life', which isn't exactly the songs title?

That's interesting. His (Peter Broderick's) version is very closely based on Stina's, down to the keyboard roulades in the chorus, the BVs coming through at the end etc. But I like the tightness they have applied in the song with the muted guitar/bass staccatos and the stops here and there. And that's a good drummer there. Crappy keyboard though, and the major chords at the end, (' Ta-Da!! ') are pretty horrid. Also I don't get the sense that he really feels or believes the song.

Well, I'll always take Stina for preference any time. But, yes, maybe some people might wander over to Stinaworld after hearing that.
