Attendances were up by 50% this year,as my girlfriend Kate decided to join us,despite not knowing her Stina from her elbow, but we'll forgive her for that.
But backtracking a couple of hours,we first caught up with Dave during one of his famous workshops in the grounds of Writtle's agricultural college where he was teaching a bunch of kids (and a few hapless parents) how to create "musical instruments" (!) out pieces of cards, bamboo and elastic bands.
Winding up,clearing up and clearing off by teatime,we drove the half mile or so to the Horse & Groom pub where Dave bravely spent 30 minutes (at least it seemed like it) ordering a round a drinks, inspite of the "interrogation" by the guy behind the bar.
Cloudy but muggy (the weather that is,not the drinks),we retired to the garden, where this year Dave was not attacked by the gnats nor were we driven back inside by rain.
For the next fleeting 90 minutes (time passes so quickly when you're in good company) we chatted through a whole range of subjects but naturally kept returning to the subject of Stina and the demise of CQD.This time last year we had a new album to look forward to and to the many long promised goodies lined up on CQD
TWIS has been and gone and CQD has been well and truly buried [:xx] but the jury is still out as to who was using the spade. [tup]
We couldn't reach a verdict anyway. [help]
.....and so all too soon we were dropping Dave off outside the train station for his long (4 hour) journey home.
Kate and I continued our journey back to her place to endure tickling attacks by the kids....and Madonna at the Live8 concert. [crazy]
