Oh and guys, I also had another idea recently.
I found that site http://www.lulu.com and thought if some of us still has the pdf files of the cqd book, we could eventually get a reprint in our own way...and control it more actively AND do what i always thought we should have done, PROMOTE it by writing to some of the music magazines of our respective countries...
I was looking at the CQD book the other day and though that it was a hell of an adventure anyway...Just get mad when i think of the time and energy i spent on it and my name not even being mentionned.
I mean, this idea and the Cadavre exquis which i started (and to which you all contributed) was ended by Stina's own hand!!!
Stina fans of today and tomorrow may be interested in that book!

This might sound a bit stupid, but what exactly is the CQD book? I've heard of the Dynamite book, but not this.
Anyone care to enlighten me?

It's a book that several of us on the old CQD forum contributed to, with words/pictures/songs,endorsed by Stina (who signed some copies and contributed some text) and loosely based around the songtitles of (then-unreleased) TWIS.
The editing/printing of the book was left to the webmasters of CQD.
About 50(?) copies were printed.

Look what happened to me! One cheeky comment and she had me locked up in the CQD Towers dungeon for 2 years.

That would include my story 'Winter Killing', which was shoehorned into the book at the last minute. I have a tidied-up version on file still, if we're going to make our own online-or-otherwise version of the book. Someone needs to let me know where to send it, though.

Pardon me for being so blunt, but what really happened to the CQD project?

We got a book. But the book seems rushed with missing contributions and a had a rather stiff asking price.

Did it - in one way or another - caused the death of CQD?

The irony of course is that nearly 18 months later, the SeekYouDanger site is still there,still open for business,still selling copies of Stina's last album and the Sex magazine.

Sadly the last remnants of our forum is 'locked', a frozen tombstone of happier times.

How easy it would be to 'unlock' but alas,I supect the damage has already been done.

You know, I've wondered about that too. The initial response to the book wasn't exactly ecstatic - there were a few things that concerned people, and quite rightly those views were expressed on the forum, albeit in very mild terms, I thought. A project that initially came from the forum members had been taken out of our hands and the result was slightly disappointing, so the response was muted. Maybe we were perceived in some quarters as not sufficiently grateful , I don't know. If that was the reason for the sudden and unexplained closure of the forum, it doesn't reflect too well on whomever made the decision.


I think there may be an entirely personal aspect to the whole thing that we don't know about and are unlikely ever to know about, however. Relationships of all kinds, professional or otherwise, can fall apart for various reasons. Priorities change, perspectives too - one can become disillusioned by people and ideas one once felt totally in sync with. It's just life.

The forums were deleted in their entirety though, weren't they? I remember being surprised by that, although I totally understand the impulse to hit the delete button when one is upset.

Do you think the content of the forums is still floating around somewhere, to be retrieved? Some of the discussions we had there were really interesting, even if they got heated at times. I always felt like I was learning something.

I'm not sure if the forum was just unlocked, with the previous content still missing, that it would actually make much difference to the moribund atmosphere that now pervades in our formerly lively group.

I suppose it certainly would have been easier for the CQD crew to simply delete all those posts but I suspect (or rather hope) that they did make some sort of copy of them.
I don't think they are on the internet anywhere though. If they do still exist they'll be on a disc or buried away on some hard drive somewhere.

Time will tell, I guess. Even if the content could just come back as an archive, that would be some consolation.
