Today's soundtrack:-
A 78rpm recording of Ravel I just got through the post
'Time of my life' from 'Dirty Dancing' (I'm writing it out for a recording session,just working out all the different parts,bass,guitar,kbds,orchestra etc etc)
Half an hour listening to one of my piano pupils
Three Easter kids hymns (accompanied by me on piano with recorder group at local school for last day of term

)
Some Schumann songs sung by Gérard Souzay
Half an hours' improvising/composing by me at the keyboard
And now I might get to listen to something just for pleasure

1.Tracks from the new The Bad Plus album
2.A crappy cod-Irish song called 'Always there' by something called 'Secret Garden',a nice sentiment loaded with treacle,faux shamrocks,and the like.(A work project-extrapolate all the parts and rewrite.This is the kind of thing I have to do to earn a crust)

3.Can-Saw Delight. Ah,that's better!
4.Some restoration work on some of my old 78s.Just trying out a bit of software,Amadeus II,to clean up some of the sound of chips frying.

5.While washing up,listening to stuff people have sent me
-eg,a CD from RobB! (review in a PM later,RobB) with lots of gentle sounds
-a freebie CD from the paper with some Radiohead-at least Thom and Johnny-good and charismatic;lots of stuff I didn't care for-disappointing Nick Cave,ditto Guillemots(thought they might be up my street,but no),etc,and some excellent music right at the end from one of my favourite bands,Polar Bear.
