'I Capture The Castle'

I'm not usually a big fan of 'period romances' but I Capture The Castle must have caufght me in the right mood becaus ei thought this was a rather wonderful film of Dodie Smith's popular novel.

Set in Suffolk in the 1930's (which is why it was filmed in Wales and on the Isle Of Man ), the film follows a family living in a run down castle as seen from the view point of the youngest daughter.

When they arrive the father of the family is a succesful author and the family are happy but 10 years later,the mother has died, a step-mother has moved in and the father is stioll struggling to write a follow up to his best selling novel.

As the sisters reach their late teens,two American brothers who's family have inherited the estate,arrive on the scene and lives suddenly begin to get complicated.

A beautifully shot film...........and not just of the topless Tara Fitzgerald.

I still haven't seen the film, mainly because I absolutely adore the book and I've convinced myself that the film can't possibly do it justice. I'm really curious about it though.

I bought the dvd in the Woolies sale for £3 so nows the time to check out your local store.

I havn't read the book but judging by reviews i've read and the film makers dvd commentary,they've kept reasonably faithful to the book.
Story and acting aside,its certainly a beautiful film to watch.The scenery is wonderful.

I love this film, if you loved the book I reckon you will love the film too. Romala Garia is unbelievably good in this film, even better than Bill Nighy.
